I want to be proactive with my 2019 Ram 1500 hemi transmission. I am at 60,000 miles and want to have the drain and fill done on the tranny. What should i be looking at price wise for a shop to do this? So far i'm getting quotes from $700-$1000.

It's a smart move. But, you don't want a drain and pour. Drop the pan and filter. Your quotes are about right for that. Way to high for a drain and pour though.

Anywhere from $600-$800 including labor+fluid/filter. Depends on the shop.

I've been quoted $1078 at a North Jersey dealership plus 3% for a credit card.

Seems steep. I got both diffs, trans with pan and filter, and transfer case for $1200. And now it's so hard to say Trans or tranny without wanting to throw up. And now that ******* Epstein ruined Jerky for me. F&^%ing Hell.

$998 for diffs and transfer. Prices are also the highest for the fluids. Had one dealer quote $465.30 for the pan. No they were not replacing the pan.

Ended up ordering diffs and transfer fluids on line from Mopar Direct and did a pick up as they do not ship the fluids. Cost $228 not counting my gas and tolls. $770 difference - CRAZY, 6 plugs, 3 drains!!!!!!!!!!

Plan on (DIY) changing all the fluids when the weather is a little more accommodating. $335 for tran pan and 7 qts. mopar tran fluid.

Ouch, that's really high. Just for the diffs and transfer case i'm getting quotes of around $500 ish. I think i can still get under the truck to save $250.

Yup, guess i worded that wrong. That would be with the pan and filter. Thanks.

Cost 224 for the OEM pan and 97 for 6 quarts of mopar 8-9 speed fluid from amazon. Doing the service again on the driveway when the weather warms up.

Yeah it's way high especially considering what's involved, pretty simple. The dealership doesn't need my business.

I just got my final quote yesterday. $900 for front, rear, transfer and transmission. That's a smoking deal.
The dealership where I purchased my Ram charges $380 for a "BG Automatic Transmission Service", BG being the fluid and I assume the "service" is just a drain and fill considering the cost of a mopar pan, 4X4 Service (diffs & transfer) is $710.

Drain and fill is NOT how you service a ZF transmission. At least they do something I suppose. bmw considers the ZF a lifetime fluid and doesn’t service it even though ZF calls for it at 60-80k miles.

You can also simply use ZF own transmission fluid and save some $$. Although not sure what Mopar markup is for their name on it. BMW was insane.

$31 and change out the door for a qt. from a dealership in NYC, $31 and change plus tax in a NJ dealership, cheaper on line.

Ya you can get ZFs “lifeguard Fluid 8” ATF fluid for $15

I know there are options. I have the "lifetime warranty" so I stick to Mopar products, also aware of the Magnuson Moss Act, just eliminate any potential excuse. Paid $17.03 per quart including shipping and tax so not too far off. I was in no rush so I did shop around. I think the worst price of them all was $465 for the pan not including tax. I paid $215 with shipping and tax for the Mopar pan.

I had my motor replaced at 40,011 miles. Had the first 2 oil changes by the dealership. That ended when I deciphered the oil code on the 2nd receipt and the dealership had used conventional oil. I keep track on the Mopar website "My Garage" of all my services, take pictures of the receipts and log them into my email account along with storing them on my computer. I had no issues with the warranty other then taking 4 months.

Funny, when I was picking up my fluids I talked to a fellow Ram owner who had his motor replaced at close to 80K in 3 days. He had the extended 80 or 100K warranty, however he had a little battle getting it covered but prevailed as all his services were performed at the dealership.

I also ran into another Ram owner at the local hardware store who had his motor replaced under warranty, all 5.7 Hemis. No major concern, particularly as I have the "lifetime warranty", but it does leave me a little unsettled.

I do think at times of replacing my 2001 work/beater Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with a higher mileage 5th gen Ram as my work truck but the idea of a motor or tranny replacement nixes those thoughts. I'm very happy with my 2019 and currently no interest in a newer model. Winters in NYC the last few years were not too bad so I used the 2001 when the streets were salted but this year it's been non stop salt and I am not shutting down the 2019 over it. Winter and the salted roads will be history and it will be time for the washing, salt neutralizer and detailing. I've been fortunate to get some breaks in the weather and get a few under body rinses and washes. The one day the water droplets were ok on the sunny side of the truck while I was getting "paper dots candy" style frozen droplets on the shady side, a little readjustment and all was good.

Remember these?
