What did you do to your Ram today???

Yep, I know exactly what you mean — the kits that force you to run wiring through the door jamb are a pain, and that’s exactly why I went with this style of system. No door-jamb wiring needed: all wiring and the light install happens inside each door panel. Control is wireless between modules (master to door modules), so you’re not running signal wires through the jamb. Power is local in each door: each door module just needs 12V and ground, which I tapped from the door’s factory module power inside the door. The lighting is controlled in two ways: first through the phone app, and second via the physical button/controller that comes with the main module. And yes, my truck did not come with the factory ambient lighting package — this is an aftermarket add-on, not OEM.

I have no idea how to use AlfaOBD, is it hard? Is it less expensive than buying the Tazer ($330)?
it's not hard. but if you don't have an android tablet or phone then you'll need to buy an android, which can be had for about $100 and you can also use it for YouTube lol
I trust AlfaOBD more than Tazer, after witnessing my buddy's JLR got stuck on a off-camber trail 3 wheeling because the Tazer decided to mess things up there. No power, no forward, no backward, nothing. Ended up having to unmarry the Tazer on the spot, pull it off the OBD port, all while being off-camber 3 wheeling.
Then another one (Power Wagon) with Tazer decided to act up while cruising on the freeway with every warning light turning on.

Oh, and my AlfaOBD already paid for itself doing all kinds of Stellantis things and resets: an hour labor every time I have to take it out.

Been running a TazerDT for over 5 years in my 2020 with absolutely zero issues caused by it . Just have to be selective on which options you enable. There are stores of guys having issues trying to use some of the anti-theft security issues, which I dont use, and a couple other features, that I also don't use because I just don't have a want or need for them. Also need to keep it updated.

not saying it WILL happen, but saying it CAN happen. ultimately, it is his choice for which one to run. what i offered is experience. Is Tazer better? maybe. But did the advertised feature lead to issues? yes. on the other hand, alfaobd is much simpler - less features, but also less possibility for someone to get feature greedy and actually mess something up.

I mean, you "can" totally mess up your BCM using alfaObd if you change the wrong thing. I have had some issues trying to adjust tire sizes with alfaObd on friends vehicles. To the point where their truck was undrivable, and it took me 20 minutes of messing round to clear the codes, and never was able to get the speedometer adjusted on one truck. The other, every time I made a change, I had to disconnect the battery to get it to reset an accept the changes. I dont use alfaObd on my own truck for tire size as it's just easier using the TazerDT. I'd say there is actually a better chance of a novice screwing up alfaObd than the TazerDT. Thankfully, I knew enough about what I changed to get the mentioned issues corrected for the owners.

true. i couldn't get customer's 2500 PW to accept 38" tires on his. every time I try to change it to 38" it gives me all kinds of warning. ended up reversing it all and told him to get ProCal.
he did ask me about tazer, as it is popular. Told him what happened to my friends and he ended up getting ProCal himself.
but then i'm not sure how anyone can mess up the tire size, as long as the tire size doesn't go over 35" and follow the published & confirmed steps... i did my own truck not knowing a thing about AlfaOBD, just followed the published steps so i considered it easy and safer way overall with alfaobd.

Funny thing, It was a HD RAM that was popping warning lights for me as well, and no speedo display.

yeap spent almost 3 hours on it trying to get it to work.
ended up giving up and told the guy to get a procal. AEV figured it out then they deserve the guy's money; i didn't figure it out so I didn't deserve his money lol

I will agree with the Seat covers. I love the look of them especially the front seats. The back is not so good. I have not figured out a way to make it any better either. I am always fixing them when my kids get out of the truck. Also difficult or just a pain to raise the seats.

On a side note I have had the covers since Christmas and they are holding up well. This week i decided to remove the (removeable) lumber support from the cover on my drivers side and use the factory adjustable Lumbar support. I like the adjustability depending on what I am wearing or thickness of clothing. I did not know this was an feature until I saw a review recently.

I don't think the back seats are horrible. They may not be a perfect fit but they'll get the job done.

I'm kind of new to DPT connector world but I sure am glad I tried them. They are superior to any others I've tried.
The only ones to use are the SOLID version any other style are just what you've been using with a crimper. I'm in total love with them.
When properly done they are the strongest connections I've ever used period and work well with different sized wire. They are a bit more but well worth it!
These connectors make me HAPPY 😁 so happy I'll have trouble falling asleep tonight. It's endless the things you can use them on. I can't wait till tomorrow!
If you have used them why didn't anyone tell me how good they are? 🤪

lol they are good. if i make my own harness I use those for things I want to be able to disconnect.
other times I use Anderson connectors. the real ones not the amazon chinese knockoff. those are great for accessories too (like my diesel heater)

A properly crimped stamped contact will hold just as strong. Most people don't bother to buy the correct crimper for them and try to just squeeze them with pliers. It I have switched to trh Deutsch connectors for almost all my connectors

I'm not a electrician but I'm going to disagree on the stamped connector being just as strong. Just the difference visually between the 2 are overwhelmingly different
I have 30 to 40 different crimpers for various connectors and have yet seen anything better. You'd think just out of dumb luck I'd have the perfect crimp with stamped connectors
Crimped stamped connectors have an incredible weak spot in them between the crimped part and the connector itself.
I'm pretty sure I know where this is going... 😵‍💫

I've used Anderson connectors for a winch and a set of jumper cables some time ago. We didn't call them Anderson connectors but I don't recall what we called them.
Probably some sort of slang term totally unrelated 🤪

I mean, if you are flexing the contacts sure but once installed in the connector there isn't a strain on that part of the contact, so being a "weak point" is moot. That's the style contact used in aviation for some power connections, where they don't have a cannon plug. The solid contacts only crimp the strands on the conductor. The stamped ones also crimp the insulation so all the tension isn't on the conductors.
