No Lane Sense but steering reacts

First, my truck does not have lane sense installed. It’s a Lone Star and I confirmed it’s not installed with the sticker and checking the settings in the truck. But yesterday while making slight left turns going 50-70 mph, my steering was resisting going back to center.
I’ve seen the posts about lane sense and power steering failures. But I did not have any lights come on and lane sense is not installed.

Lane sense would push it back to center. It make it harder to turn left or right, not toward center. Also how fast were you going? Lane sense doesn’t activate until 40mph and up.

I was going over 50. I know it’s not lane sense because it’s not installed on my truck. I’m trying to figure out what could be causing the problem.

Bring to the dealer, could be a power steering issue. Other members have had similar problems.

I’m having the same issue, only when slightly turning left, about a quarter turn of the wheel. Steering wheel sticks and doesn’t want to return to center. Has happened both when sitting in slow traffic and when at highway speed going around a fairly tight curve. Will take in to see what’s going on, not a good feeling when driving.

My dealer said there was a star case referencing a ground that needed cleaned.. So far so good.

I have the same issue and it and was a huge safety concern of mine during my road trip to Nashville from Virginia Beach and back during the holidays. I had to make sure I held the steering wheel tight going through the mountains as it will hold at about the 11 o’clock position and jerk back. Not safe! It has been to a dealer for it a couple times without them being able to replicate it including in Nashville when I got there after an uncomfortable 11 hour trip dealing with it. I’m going to give it one more chance at dealer before filing complaint with NHTSA and looking at other options. On a positive note I did mostly get rid of a vibration I had been having, installed a tonneau cover, some tow hooks and added another coat of wax on it.

Still awaiting more info on this. My truck has this issue, would love to avoid replacing the entire steering rack if it is a simple grounding issue.

My truck had the repair done for cleaning the g926a and g2a grounds. I have had it back for 2 days and the steering is working properly!

Is everything still going well with your steering? I’m about to take my truck in to the dealer.

If you contact your local dealer they should be able to lookup the STAR case with all of the information in it.

I called and asked a service tech about this and they couldn’t pull anything up. Do you happen to have a reference number for the case?

Same here 2109 Laramie 5.7 eTorque, 4x4, no lane assist. Wheel has that 1/8 turn dead spot to the left. Brought it back to the dealer with 1,100 miles on it. After two weeks to clean the G926a and G2a grounds, got it back and no change. In fact, it might be worse. They also did a ECU flash to improve the horrible fuel mileage (14 average). Mileage seems to suck a little less now, but still not near the 17/22 advertised. Back to the shop next week.

Mine is back in the shop. It almost put me into the side of a big rig 2 days ago. The shop manager is driving it home at night to try and re-create it. It happened once in a 100 mile stretch. This process is taking way too long and getting nowhere. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of my family. I travel for work and need something dependable and safe. I am going to get the truck today and trade it somewhere. I have asked FCA to close all open cases. I am going to take a beating on trade as these truck depreciate like crazy.

Nothing like having someone else put miles on your truck. I think it’s bs that they must recreate a problem. I mean when it does do it what’s he going to say, yup it does. we don’t know exactly the problem is but it’s definitly doing what you say. Unless it keeps doing it most techs won’t know what’s going on.

Exactly. Not happy about it! I plan on discussing that with the area manager on Monday morning.

I’ve actually had the techs do that to me when I had my ecodiesel. That thing lived in the shop the first year of its life. When they said that they’d have to drive it to duplicate symptoms I said okay let me drive what you have until you figure it out. They tried to give me an impala I wouldn’t except it and said I was yes something the same or better than what I’m driving. Once they decided to give me a loaded off the lot Cherokee and me putting 2100 miles on their (new) Cherokee they figured it out real quick. I’m an ******* when it comes to my money. Lol

After the truck has been in the shop for 16 days for just the steering issue, the response I got today is that they cleaned and checked more grounds and I need to pick up the truck and drive it. Grounds were already checked so I am very doubtful this will resolve it. I also found out that power steering racks are not available and are on back order. I live in MS. The truck has been in the shop over 15 days and this is the third attempt at a fix. So by law in MS, FCA must buy back the truck. However, the area manager will not approve this. So what should I do? Get legal representation? ( There is a lawyer that is ready to take my case due to how I have been treated as a customer and the seriousness of liability) Refuse to accept the fix? (because they literally did nothing different than the last time) Get large yellow vinyl lemon stickers and put all over the truck and be an advertisement for 2019 Lemon of the Year? I am at a loss on how to move forward. I have tried working with FCA Customer Care and that has not helped at all. I have been more that patient with this. I have kept my cool when most people would have already blown up. I am at the end of my rope. I travel for my job and just cannot accept this any longer.

If they are not cooperating now you will get no where without a lawyer. A Lemon Law lawyer will cost you nothing out of pocket. If you settle they will take a cut. If you get a buyback or have to go to court they will get lawyer fees from FCA.

My truck is in the shop right now. Of course they are telling me they can’t recreate the problem. The 2019 Ram they gave me as a rental is not having the same problem. Idk what to do now.

This could be a good sign. Seems like the recall is at least related to our problem.

The dealer completed the recall today. So after I’ve driven around for a bit, I’ll update the thread if the recall fixed this specific issue.

Recall did not fix the steering sticking on left curves issue. It’s still happening. Also, now my check engine light is on, so I guess we’ll see what that’s about. Taking the truck back on Tuesday.
