2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

For those of you interested in amp-research powersteps 76364-01A, Carid has them at $1514. Called to verify stock, went ahead and bought with phone guy who added 5% discount, $1439 + tx, free ship. Received it 4 days later. Like a few others I've read about, motor connectors were reversed, open with door shut, close with door open. Easy fix, pry out blue lock, release tabs above connectors, pull out connectors and reverse. Works perfect now. Toughest part for me was fishing the powerstep harness yellow line through the rubber boot near the steering column (tight space) to mate with the OBD plug yellow line.

Contacted amp-research to ask about a 2025 OBD bypass harness. Said they are working on it.

What’s the bypass harness for?

Has anyone had any reason to doubt the indicated TPMS tire pressure indicated reading?
Thanks in advance

Just a follow up on my shop visit for my dead battery. They are saying both batteries were bad and the shifter needed replacement. In my mind something had to happen for all of those issues to magically occur at once, but the service desk is less than helpful.
As a follow up, the truck is running good and seems to be back to normal. However, note this message is showing up for the auto start/stop.

So I need some guidance/help from you guys. The screen in my truck has been broken/not responding to touches for months. The “brain” as they are calling it has been on order this entire time but they have given me 0 actual info on any sort of a timeframe or what they are doing to source this part. Every week I get a copy and paste email asking me to be patient and then it has all sorts of Kamala-esque filler that makes it sound like something is being done but in reality it’s just a bunch of hot air. “Working with suppliers at the parts level to improve the timeframe.” When I press them on it, they say they are “doing all they can.”
I told them they have the parts every day because they continue to roll new trucks off the assembly line. Their response is that those are pre-built units that are comprised of several parts for manufacturing purposes. That actually makes sense to me. My brother said I should push them to replace the entire screen/unit as opposed to the specific part that seems to be impossible to produce. Has anyone had luck getting any sort of results from Stellantis/Ram Case Management? If so, how high up do I have to push?

Any help/input is much appreciated.

Maybe we keep politics out of a truck thread?

Regardless, The time I dealt with them, they told me I needed to go to another dealer first.

Have you actually tried a different dealer?
Is the head unit in its entirety available?
Have you said, “Just replace the whole head unit since that’s available or Lemon the truck?”

Or keep pushing for the supervisor’s supervisor.

That’s all I’ve got for you.

Agree with pushing the lemon law option. Not sure which state you live in, but you can look up the laws fairly easily. Log into Mopar.com and look for Additional Publications and then select Lemon Law and Tire Information from the dropdown.
Not sure if this will work for you, but worth a shot:

Most states have limits on how long a problem can exist without being fixed. You may not really want to push that far - that's personal choice - but they don't know that. It's leverage....

Referencing a well-known personal characteristic of a public figure has nothing to do with politics. Unless you bring politics into it.

What he said would be the same and equally valid no matter what background resulted in Kamala being a public figure. She could be the CEO of AARP and the comment would be the same. She vomits word salad when she speaks. That's a personality trait she has. A behavior she exhibits. That has absolutely nothing to do with politics.

Are you also going to suggest he brought racism and sexism into the thread because she is a black woman, even those things also have NOTHING to do with the validity of what he said?

So, yes, let's please keep politics out of a truck thread.

I would not breathe the words Lemon Law unless and until you really ARE willing to take it that far.

Once you say "lemon law", you MAY get what you want. Or, they MAY just throw their hands up in the air and say "okay, if you're going to lemon law it, we're going to stop doing anything at all to try and fix it. You go ahead and file your paperwork and deal with Stellantis. Your truck will be sitting here in the back of our lot until it's resolved."

All I said was let’s keep politics out of this and you seem to have been offended.

Maybe, instead of anger and supposition, we move on.

I see that you have an opinion. Thank you. The point is, it has nothing to do with our trucks. Let’s agree to disagree and move on.

@StuartV Like you said, I was not intentionally attacking her politics, just a personality trait. Because she is a political figure, I understand where @RamTruckMan was coming from. I didn't mean to stir anything up so I agree we should just move on. All good.

I do appreciate everyone's input on dealing with Stellantis. The part where things get murky is that I do have my truck right now. I drive it hundreds of miles per week. It's just really annoying to not be able to interract with the infotainment screen. Early-ish on in this, they did offer to pay for some/all of the truck payments while the truck is "down" but when I told them both the truck is already paid off and I still drive it every day, they offered to extend the warranty on it. When I told them I already bought the extended warranty they said they would extend it even more. That's all fine and dandy but at this point I'm just getting more and more frustrated each day when I get into my truck.

I think what I'm going to have to do is call RamCares and just keep asking for advisors until I get to the "top".

Thanks for that.

I’ve always found that when you talk to the next level and they say no one above them can do anything, the ones above certainly can.

But also, have you investigated with either RAM or the dealership if a larger part is available?

Like maybe they’re trying to order subpart B. Subpart B is a piece of larger part A.

Part A is in stock (but costs more). While part B isn’t in stock because all the supply of B is going towards the creation of A.

Maybe they’re just trying to save a buck?

I think what you're calling murky is how to quantify your loss due to the problem or defect. It's subjective, unfortunately. Personally, I'd say lack of the center stack screen is a major issue. Do you have air suspension? If so, how can you use it? There is plenty of functionality that is not available to you.
Did you look into the arbitration options in the front of the lemon law document? You're not bound to the results if you don't like them, but FCA is. It's probably worth a few minutes of your time to look it over and understand that option.

I also agree with others as far as trying to find another dealership and another parts department. I've dealt with several CDJR dealers in my area, and there is one in particular that has a parts manager that is great to work with. He's the exception, but he's the type of guy you should look for. Finding the one guy willing to go the extra mile, and look for alternative solutions, might just be your easiest way out.

You could also possibly bite the bullet and leave the truck with them and tell them you're not taking it back until it is fixed. You can't use some of the important features if your touchscreen doesn't work.

If you bought a Mopar MaxCare warranty, they should give you a comparable loaner or rental.

While they have it, I suspect (but, of course, it depends on your state) the Lemon Law clock is ticking.

Places I have looked into generally apply the LL after 30 days without use of the vehicle or something like that. In which case, they MAY also be on the hook for any out-of-pocket expenses you had - like paying for a rental car in the meantime.

Just another option to consider. Trying phone calls to Stellantis/RamCares and also checking with other dealerships first definitely seems like a good idea.

All I said was let’s keep politics out of this and you seem to have been offended.

Yep. I do get offended when people accuse others (passive-aggressively or otherwise) of something they didn't do and, in fact, the accuser is actually doing exactly what they are accusing someone else of.

Politics WASN'T in this thread - until you accused someone of putting politics into the thread. You appeared to be offended by his reference to Kamala and her word salads and made it into something about politics - when it had nothing to do with politics. Then you accused him of bringing politics into the thread, when HE did not. You did.

Politics, race, sex... people get offended all the time by someone and then, where there is a difference in one of those things, the offended person accuses the other of doing what they did because of that difference - even when the difference (in politics, race, or sex) had absolutely NOTHING to do with what the person did or why they did it. Yep. I do get offended when that happens.

And then, when you call the person out for making false accusations, they get offended about that, too!

Kamala has vomited so much word salad in the last 4 years, I'm surprised Whole Foods isn't stocking it in the Fresh Produce section. Saying that has NOTHING to do with politics. And what @Peterhenric said was, just in my opinion of course, a very clear and apt metaphor for what he intended to communicate. A lot of words were communicated to him but, in the end, they had no content that was useful to him.

So, there you go. I think I have made my point. If nobody has anything more to say about it then neither do I. :D

During this whole thing, I have been dealing only with Ram as my dealership has said they have no sale in when a part becomes available. They place an order and it is up to ram to fulfill it.
I will reach back out to my dealer and inquire if there are other more expansive options in regards to replacement parts.
Considering the touchscreen is what does not work, it never made sense to me that just the CPU is what the problem was. My tech experience is limited, but I would’ve expected it to be the actual screen/digitizer that went bad. If I could get them to replace the entire unit that would alleviate either option.

That’s what I’m talking about! If they can’t replace a component, replace the whole thing! Good luck

I think if you don’t get any traction with that, then you call RAMCares. They might make you go for a second opinion first though. Your call on whether you wanna do that before calling

While on the topic. I’ve found that there are 2 toes of dealers: those that pinch every penny to make more money now and those that realize customer service businesses require capital investments sometimes and you make a customer for life who will bring you more business by referral.
I’m lucky that I have 3 decent dealers close by. But I’ve also noticed, that changes by locale/state.
