In and out of dealership. Barely saw car for 6 months. Can't fix car.

what do you mean by issues? no matter what the egr in a "modern" diesel will soot up.
i have a theory, while you get better mpg's with diesel the fuel cost more and then you need DEF if you spend the same amount of money on gasoline you will go the same distance. so it's 6 of 1 a half dozen of the other.
In hindsight, would've gone with the gasoline version for certain. Didn't know as much about diesel and associated complexities at time of purchase.

Ended up picking up the truck after trying to do that for more than a week without dealership replying to my requests. They didn't even work on it, just reset the engine light. Their service parking lot is so full they had to start a third row of parallel parking. 1+ month, 3rd time in dealership in 6 months, took a week to get someone over phone and when asked "Do you have an estimate of when job will be done?" he answered that he did not. They do have a "service warranty" - if our repair breaks again - we'll fix it for free. They just don't mention they'll keep your car until they finish repairing all the cars that make them money or until you beg them to just get your car back.

That's RAM dealerships for you -- quantity over quality. Will look for a local shop that has capable mechanics, then selling and never touching a Dodge/RAM again.

care to name the dealership?

Lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT of Bryan College Station. If you suspect any of my depictions were exaggerated, check their google reviews. You will find positive reviews, but a very common denominator among the negative reviews that basically confirms my experience as a "standard of service."

I don't think anyone feels your are exaggerating your experience. Just that it's more an issue with the dealership itself and not as much RAM

Update to give credit when credit's due: Ram Cares gave me a call 2 business days after escalation case was submitted. The car was already out of the dealership, so they eventually stated that if I choose to bring the vehicle back to the dealership, they'll do what they can to expedite the service. Hopefully, Stellantis starts doing more about this and other dealerships that are substandard rather than attempting to address case by case.

Still not planning to take the car back to this dealership for 4th time in 6 months. This dealership needs much more than a phone call from Stellantis to provide decent service.

Another update: tried to use front seat ventilation for first time after taking car out of the dealership. Not working for the first time ever. What a nightmare this has turned out to be. Wonder what else they screwed up in my car.... Taking to local shop in a few days and will tell them to do a comprehensive evaluation, then selling it.

And... the story continues.
Took to shop, supposed to be best shop in city. Replace differential sensor. A week later, started car, reving up and down and stalls within 10 seconds. Towed to shop, replaced mass air flow sensor but lin bus still failing. Shop said PCM recently replaced by dealership likely culprit. Now have to tow it back to dealership.

So far, approximately $2k spent and as of now, car can't move, which is worse than what it was before I took it in for repair.

Never touching a Dodge again.

I'd ask the shop how they were able to replace a mass airflow sensor when your truck doesn't even have one.

https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-air-flow-sensor-68212525aa ; Assuming tech or service rep misspoke when describing the part. They replaced it due to code P2199-00. But despite changing that, code U1008-00 persisted (LIN Bus failure) but checked lin bus circuits and found no failure, so suspecting PCM that was replaced by dealership a few months ago is faulty. Towing to dealership tomorrow.

Probably because they are the best shop in the city.
They're that good.
Unfortunately, best shop in the city though they're the shop that managed to do what even the worst dealership I've ever worked with didn't - stall the car. By far based on the information available to me and recommendations by other shops who didn't want to touch the truck. Had there been a better one, I'd take it there since at this point I just want to get this over with.

I feel for you.
It sounds like you got a lemon and the problems are just bring compounded by the service available to you.
The dealer techs are so hit and miss that even if you get good service it could be a totally different experience the next time.

Guess I was wrong. Didn't think Dodge/RAM used MAF sensors on any engine until the new Hurricanes. They were very fond of the speed density system
