not today but a week ago:
used my truck to pick these up from the office. Sony overnighted the body and the lens and Amazon 2 day it the Sigma.

I kept on forgetting to post lol
i'm one 200-600mm lens short and i got all i need for wildlife and outdoor photography. maybe add a prime lens in the future. but for now these put me back at where i was before.

also trying to figure out why my window guy and my tint guy manage to kill my battery but when i tested the battery with a tester I got "battery is still good"... hmm
Man you cant go wrong with the A74, after 32 years of using a K1000 I finally moved out of the stone age...took me 2 years of research but I made the switch Dec '24 to that same body. I am a Tamron guy though so I went that way. I was thinking about scooping that sigma up though for a small lens to take when I travel.

Yup. Here is the stock poke, I may add 1/2 spacers....View attachment 204545
Hows the ride quality and noise level? I'm in the process of getting the exact same setup done to my 22 Limited and see these tires for very low prices. I'll be getting the 285/55/22 as well but will be adding the Revel level but happy to hear your not rubbing in stock heights!

i grew up on Lumix and Fuji but spent the last 10 years on Canon. I've been thinking about going Sony for a while because I liked how their color profile for landscape, so when my Canon got stolen 2 weeks ago I made the switch. I was also told from people who have both that Canon's color profile for portraits is better but I don't shoot portraits lol

haven't shot anything yet but I was playing with the menu settings and boy... way too much options and features compared to my 6D2 lol the custom buttons alone are confusing already.

i like sigma. i've had really good experience with Sigma when it comes to color, clarity, and performance.

I went with Sony 70-200 because I was told for that offering Sony's performance is better. We shall see lol

I have spent probably more time than I would have thought necessary to try and get it dialed exactly the way I want it...but here I am almost a year later and . I am not to hard on myself yet as coming from 35mm to this is about the same as when I went from Holley Dominators to HP tuners. I watched a couple pretty good videos on setup and the custom buttons for it and saved those as my reference.
I was going to update my post last night, I have an old sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens i used with my k1000, I used to take pictures of UFO (hubcaps) attacking plastic pink flamingos, long long story.

I got mine from B&H and they had a package deal w/the 70-200 for like 70% off the lens price. It seems to do really good, I haven't bought anything yet to replace it as I am satisfied with how it handles itself in its operating envelope.

Next I am trying to find a good lens for videoing when we go to the races, I do some video for our local series and me and the kid do some random vlogs on youtube, but also one of the side hustles is I am a master barber so I would like to video some of that.

a 600mm is something on the list for sure.
mostly using that for wildlife and stuff but seeing how replacing gears ate into my trip budget this year and I don't see myself shooting any wildlife any time soon from where I am, I postpone that to next year just so I got more breathing room (in case I see some random thing I want to waste my money on lol)

i like big aperture so that alone means I'm paying more for the same amount of zoom lol.

Finished up putting the RAM emblem and hood LED lights. Super stoked how it turned out. The start up for both lights is incredible! Short instructions say removing the grill is not necessary, but I call BS on that. Unless you have long baby arms you will be removing the grill.
Removing the grill on this 5th gen was 10x harder than my last 2 Rams.
I did want to share that when I put on the LED hood light, I had set it too far back by about 1/8 inch, so I slowly pulled it up with hardly any resistance and low and behold this damn not so sticky tape stripped the paint off my grill as if it had just been painted the day before. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life! I don’t know what to even think of it! Not sure if this is just my truck or all Rams, but if you ever put anything like this on your grill, be careful. Fortunately, it doesn’t show when the hood is shut. I will be contacting Ram to see if there’s anything I can do. Not sure if it’s still under warranty or not.

RAM emblem came out nice but I sure do hate those led strips people are throwing on everything 😂 and to see it messed up the paint is even more fuel to why I dislike them. Good luck on your claim since adding that strip over top the paint.

With Sony, there's the 200-600, which is affordable, but not big aperture.

Then there's the 600 f/4. It is $14K! It is a really nice lens, though...

Or you could go with the 300 f/2.8 at $6500 and a 2X teleconverter for another few hundred. I wouldn't go that way just because of needing to be able to have the 600mm focal length and then still add a TC on top of that.

I shoot the 200-600, with the 1.4X TC when needed. It's not great in low light, like early morning and sunset, when I'd most like to be shooting wildlife. But, I'm not making a living off my photography and $14K for a lens is just not in the budget at this time. My a7rIV is getting kinda long in the tooth. I think a new a1 II will come before a $14K lens...

I had XPel Ultimate Plus and Llumar Formula One Ceramic tint installed today. 15% on all windows and 50% on Moonroof. I have included too many pictures but trying to help those making the tint percentage decision.

I go back next week for the XPel follow up
Appt for the edges and what not. I looked it over in the shop and when I got home. There are some edges here and there that need attention but those will be fixed.

I tried to capture different angles inside and out to show the tint. It was overcast and sprinkling fwiw.

How’s the tint? Did you got formula one all around?

oh yeah the $14k price tag is bonkers.
i probably will do 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 from Sony though the 300-600 F4 from Sigma is pretty enticing (but that price tag...)

we'll see lol Perhaps I'll add a 1.4 and a 2.0 TC for now for the 70-200 and see how it goes.

I ordered my truck in October of 2022 and Ram was still suffering from "supply chain issues" So even though I ordered the level 2 option package with Uconn 5, I ended up with a 8.4" screen instead of the 12"
So I finally upgraded to what I should have had in the first place.
I must say, Infotainment was fantastic. Instalation was surprisingly easy and the auto programming went seamlessly.
Power folding tow mirrors are on the way!
