I am looking for feedback from previous owners of a Limited that had 20 inch tires who moved on to the Tungsten with 22’s. I understand the seats are quite different but was there a noticeable difference in the ride comfort between the two? I am in the decision making process for a ‘26 Limited or Tungsten and am hung up on the Tungsten 22’s. I have read many comments here and on Reddit but I thought folks with direct experience of the two rides could provide some valuable input. My only Ram thus far has been a 2019 Classic which I thought had a pretty good ride. I will appreciate all input.

How has your fuel economy been with the Hurricane? I love that my EcoDiesel can consistently get 27-30 MPG. I was originally all for the Hurricane engine and then I read that it requires the highest/most premium gasoline, which is substantially more than diesel in my area. That really scared me away, especially if the MPG is more like a Hemi than an ED.

I track every fill-up in Fuelly (so, all hand-calculated).

I tracked 59,390 miles in my '21 EcoDiesel and averaged 21.5 over that. I had the GDE tune for most of that. I also had aftermarket 20" wheels with 33" tires for most of that, too.

In my '19 with a Hemi/eTorque, I tracked 71,704 miles and averaged 14.1. It had the same 20" wheels and tires that I later moved over to the '21.

I've only tracked 2,011 miles in the '25 HO, so far. And that mileage has included 2 road trips from Columbia, SC, to Morehead City, NC, and a day run from Morehead City to Durham, NC, and back. So, mostly highway miles where I set the cruise at 10 MPH over the speed limit. My average so far is 16.1.

I suspect once my driving has had more time to "normalize" - i.e. a higher percentage of in-town driving - my average will settle in to probably a little worse than I got with the Hemi. Factoring in that I'm running stock wheels/tires, that really means notably worse than the Hemi. But, we'll see...

I bought it expecting all that. Poor fuel economy and paying for Premium gas. I'm okay with that. I wanted the performance and I bought in knowing what the cost would be. I only bought it to carry me for 3 years or so until I can buy a Ramcharger (after they've had at least 2 years to work the bugs out of that). I'll pay a lot for gas but have 3 years of FUN driving!

I had a 2015 Limited with 4 corner air (and a 2006 big horn, 2008 Laramie) all had 20 inch rims.
My 2023 LImited has 22” and 4 corner.
No noticeable ride difference for shock/bump absorption.
It does corner/track a little bit better.

The factory Pirellies are good tires…but wear WAY too quick, replaced mine at 21K miles with a set of Michelin LTX.

In being selfish and honest, they look outstanding and I get compliments on my rims all the time.
Tungsten is my next truck because it has all the bells and whistles…including nicer seats, more display and an even better stereo.. and I frankly have no complaints of my current ride. I would be tempted, however, to black out the Chrome on the Tungsten. I wish they offered a night package. My the time I’m ready to buy…they just might.
That being said… Go Blue. :)

You were being so helpful up until the last line. 😒

Seriously though, I appreciate the input, especially your tires recommendation. I was concerned about the ‘22s but I’m pretty sure I’m past that now.

BTW, the Natty was special but …………. YOU HAVE TO BEAT YOUR RIVAL!!

All in good fun.. we had a helluva special run the season prior.
I don’t know if they still use Pirellis on factory 22s. They do everything right, not great in snow…but frankly, any tire that is that wide and flat with so little sidewall, even on the old 20s, weren’t great in snow unless you went really agressive tread, and I didn’t buy my Limited to be an off road toy, my Wrangler is for that.. I bought it as my Cowboy Cadillac/grocery getter. I’d say going Tungsten, even more so…
I’m sure… with bad roads and pot holes.. one day… maybe… issue. But 24K miles in just under 2 years, other than the factory wearing pretty quickly for my taste, the 22’s are outstanding. I think Michigan is the current leader in bad roads and potholes.. and no issues yet.

I keep planning on stopping by a lot and driving a Tungsten, just to check out the interior, and feel the power of that twin turbo 6…but I fear I’ll like it too much, and I really like the truck I’m in now. Good luck.

FYI...they still use Pirellis on factory 22s. I have them and hate the look. I have had them in the past and they end up making noise when it's time to change them. They aren't worth a crap in the sand either. I had a King Ranch years ago and a Honda Pilot would do circles around me on the beach...literally.

I have a Limited now, and love the truck. Did get a second set of wheels in 18" because I wanted more sidewall.

I plan to buy a new truck next year. The thing that turns me off with the current Limited and Tungsten is that they only come with the Ramboxes. This means that my tonneau cover, my drawers, and my rack do not fit and I would have to buy them again. So probably going for a lower trim.

I hate 22's on a 4x4 truck. Even if it's a Cowboy Cadillac, I still want enough tire sidewall to not rash the wheel on any old normal height curb. That is just dumb.

I changed from none to Ramboxes when I got my '19 1500. I have never had a moment's regret. My truck is my daily driver and I like it to be "prepped" at all times. My Ramboxes are awesome for carrying jumper cables, tie-down straps, a portable tire inflator, my drawbar and extra ball hitches, some tools, a sleeping back (you never know!) and on and on. Much better than trying to fit all that stuff in truck without Ramboxes.

In your situation, I would just bite the bullet and do it. It's (currently) the only way to get the HO motor, anyway. And once you change over to Ramboxes, then you can just keep with the Ramboxes going forward.

Your tonneau cover won't move over, but if it's on a 2020 truck you're about ready for a new one anyway, aren't you?

You have drawers now and they don't fit between the wheel wells? If they do, I would think they would also fit in a truck with Ramboxes. But, if they get wide at the back end of the truck, then obviously not.

Now, if they started offering the option for an HO motor in a Laramie.... well then... My '19 1500 was a Laramie with pretty much every option. It had pretty much everything a Limited has except for the Super Duper headlights. But, after driving the HO motor, I wouldn't buy another truck with anything lesser.

I appreciate the detailed response -- this has helped me put it into perspective. The Hurricane definitely sounds like a fun truck to drive.... I may have to test one out. I too am eagerly awaiting the Ramcharger and will likely hold onto my EcoDiesel until that point (hoping I don't run into any troubles with it). I am just crossing 30,000 miles and loving it.

My current truck is my sixth pickup, third Ram, but first with Ramboxes.

I didn't plan on buying one with them but could not pass up this truck.

Three years in - I LOVE them.

You don't lose much bed size and the divider is very helpful. Plus great out of sight storage when you need it.
