I buy a new truck every 10 years, all have been Toyota's, but they have really messed up with the new V6 twin turbo engines and for the first time it looks like I might be buying a 2025 Dodge 1500 Limited, wow have times have changed. Taking a test drive this weekend to seal the deal or not and thought I would join to gain more knowledge.

Welcome and Congratulations! I'm sure you will be satisfied. This my first Mopar product and I similarly went through the same thing.
I'm was driving an F350 before I landed in my RAM 1500. I didn't get a brand new one but they are light years ahead the others in the year range.
We all LOVE pictures here and would like to see the pictures if they are available 🤪

If buying new, take some time to understand the options. RWD or 4WD? Which axle ratios? What will you be using the truck for (around town, towing, play, real off-road)?

I'm sure you found the right forum to help with any questions. I'm new here too, this forum is the best among several I have tried. I was pointed here by some friends.

Looks like I finally decided, a 2025 Ram 1500 Blk Tungsten. Test drive one tomorrow, good grief now I know why I only buy a Truck every 10 years.

I hate car dealers with a passion. In my way younger days I worked as a wash boy so I spent a lot of time with the sale team.
Being a mechanic/technician after that I never had to deal with them again. Salesmen were not allowed to even speak with us.

I was talking to a different dealer yesterday, we worked out every thing over the phone and I was just about to leave to go test drive the truck and he calls back and says, sorry but our web site posted the wrong price for your truck and its going to cost $5,000 more, I said no thanks, there has to be a better way to buy a truck for a decent price.

Reach out to Mark Dodge. They seem to offer the best pricing they are in Louisiana though. Could always test drive one locally and then work out the final details for one through Mark Dodge.

I will call Mark Dodge, the ones I have been dealing with are one step away from drug dealers.

Welcome to the Ran family but You say you're leaving Toyota because it has a 6 cyl twin turbo but if you buy a 2025 Ram it too will have a 6 cyl twin turbo although it's inline 6. 🤔

Late to the thread but I don't think the issue is so much with the engine, more the swarf left in the oilways after machining.
Kind of the same reason that I didn't buy another Tundra. I do miss the agricultural layout of the 'Yota but blow me if these RAMs aren't loaded with all kind of fancy gizmos - I'm not looking forward to the day when 'computer says no'.

I tried to pull a stunt last week that my missus absolutely hates - easing (ahem) into traffic in the outside lane which requires getting right on the tail of the vehicle in front before pulling out. No problem in the Tundra but this new ***** decided to jack the brakes on just as I was pulling out, nearly ended up looking like a fool as well as a ****!.

Turn that feature off! I don't mind a blaring alarm if the sensors think I'm too close but it is not up to the car to decide to actually apply brakes.
That's the first thing I did in my first 5th gen. It was actually the sales rep who recommended I turn it off. I disable auto braking on any vehicle equipped with it. Alarms are one thing but allowing the vehicle to slam on the brakes when it thinks it needs to doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

It took me some days to figure out my truck had this "feature." For me, I back out of my driveway and often a bit into the weeds across the street. The timing was such that at the exact moment I would start braking, the truck would do a really hard stop. Like a broken power booster diaphragm, no middle ground, just a hard stop as soon as I barely touched the brake pedal. Big soft fluffy weeds were triggering automatic braking.

So where did you end up? Mark’s pricing is hard to beat (if not truly impossible).
If you got the Tungsten, curious how happy you are. If it doesn’t have any issues, it’s a hell of a nice truck.
