I recently purchased a 2021 ram bighorn online from an authorized dealer out of state and had it delivered to my house. It has the 5.7 hemi in it and it’s really my dream truck. When I popped the hood I saw that someone had put a shutoff valve on the hose leading to the heater core. The valve was in the on position. A couple of days later I noticed that I had some coolant on the floor of my garage where the truck was parked. I took the truck to my local dealership and had them to fix the leak which ended up being a bad clamp on the hose with the cutoff valve. I also told them to remove the cutoff valve and bring everything back to spec. Now that’s been done I noticed that the truck gets to running temp ( needle between 1/4 &1/2 ) but stays hot for a long time even after the truck is shut off. Am I being paranoid or is this something to be concerned about?

that valve was a mod done to cut off the water to the heater core so the ac works better lot's of people do it. as far as the temp it seems normal

The analog needle is kinda useless, it's more of a dummy gauge. You should be able to adjust your dash to get a digital readout of your water/oil/transmission temps which rise and fall with every degree change. The dummy gauge more or less sits there and doesn't update unless it's really cold or really hot.
