Hello all, I recently purchased a 2022 Ram Rebel and I was surprised that it didn’t not come with remote start from the factory. After doing research for several days, I figured that I would try out Infotainment’s OEM remote start kit for the Ram 1500 DT’s. I couldn’t find any reviews or experiences from customers who purchased this kit so I figured I’d share mine so it could help someone out in the future.
The install was not too bad. As long as you follow the instructions on their YouTube video you should have no issues. Once the kit is installed, a locksmith (with the correct programs and software) or dealer can program the new RF hub to the vehicle and then program the new key fobs. The original key fobs will not work anymore and you won’t be able to start the vehicle unless you re-install the old RF hub.
I had a local locksmith program mine and the process went good. Only issue is that the tire sensors had to manually be programmed to the new RF hub. Unfortunately I didn’t know what the tire pressure sensor ID numbers were, so my locksmith wasn’t able to program those to the new RF hub. Until those were programmed, the dash indicated that there were no tire sensors. Luckily, I took my truck to Discount Tire and they were able to re-learn the pressure sensors to the truck and after 20 min of driving continuously and without turning the turning the truck off, they were re-programmed.
The kit works great. I’ve had it installed for about a week now and have had no issues with the remote start firing up. If anyone is looking into the kit for the OEM remote start I highly recommend it. It’s not cheap, but possibly cheaper than getting it installed a a local dealer. This process can easily be done in one day but I made the mistake of not contacting the locksmith ahead of time to schedule an appointment, since I didn’t know how long the install would take.
