I notice there’s a big difference between FM radio, Sirius/XM, USB recorded music and CD in that order. CD being best.

It makes such a massive difference. Things like CD's are 320 kbit/s. MP3's range from 96-320 but usually around 192, and streaming services are just garbage mostly because they fluctuate and most services cap at 128. Sirius claims to be 256 but it's a downright lie. FM is also 96-128.

If it can be helped on whatever source you use for your thumb drive, swing for 320. Back when I used to download music that was all I tried to get and it was noticeable when a song I knew was less than that was playing.

my truck has the "heavy duty" cd player a 495 dollar option on the sticker. i kinda think of it like a 8 track player. i'm going to have to give it a try.
when i rip music off a cd i do it as a flac then put it on the usb in the highest quality setting. it sounds pretty good to me.

Same here. It's either XM or Prime Music from my phone. With the tinnitus and loss of hearing, my Alpine system sounds pretty good

I have a 2005 TJ Rubicon that has a 6 disc CD changer. The factory bass speaker is blown, I guess??? I'm not a radiofile Well, I'm just not tech savvy. I took the antenna off because I don't listen to broadcast radio and have a small Bluetooth speaker I use when traveling to off road trails. I don't usually listen to music while wheeling, I like to hear the sounds of the trails and my jeep.

I have an 05 LJR as well. The subwoofer in the center console is pretty easy to change out.

IMHO, not much.

I use Pandora exclusively now days. Way too much effort to find great quality music and I prefer the sound of the Hemi above all else lol.

I've also had hearing damage from deployments so I can't even wear headphones in one ear anymore.

The Alpine system is more than enough for me. And way better than FORD's B&O crap.

Spotify premium gives you 320kbps / CD quality sound and is not too expensive. You can spend more for lossless or other better steaming services, but hardly anyone will have a system in their vehicle where the benefits can be detected; certainly not a stock system. IMHO of course.

Works pretty good, but I unplug it when getting out at home to avoid connecting to it while I'm the house. Regardless, worth the $40 or so.

Today was OEM rear fender wells. Hope to have my door handles soon to install passive entry (REALLY looking forward to that one). After that, bed cover and bed extender, then LED headlights.
