Don't you guys know anything about your own economy? You literally cannot produce the oil that is needed (in large part), Alberta and Venezula and Middle East are the only known sources of this thick crude oil produced in Alberta. The specific refineries in the USA that use this oil cannot just be swapped over to refine the oil you produce.
Secondly; we're each others largest trading partners. If you think you're going to slap a 25% tarriff on all Canadian imports with no effect on your life then you really do sleep well at night. YOU as Americans are going to be hurt by this, Canada doesn't pay for the tarrifs, it's an import tax, whoever in the US is buying Canadian materials/products/services is going to pay this tax, and pass it on down to you.
Whatever, we'll see what happens but Americans might be without electricity in a few northern states for a while.
