Hello all. New on the site, 1st post. Just took delivery (Thursday) of a 1500 Big Horn. Apple CarPlay is not working. I have tired multiple cords and the wife's phone. Both of our phones work with no issue on her Subaru.

I have seen on here that other people have had similar issues...just wondering if anyone has found a solution or is there a dealer update? Thanks!

Try going into settings and then apps and push projection manager. If it’s off car play won’t work

A quick search of the forums will reveal several threads already discussing CarPlay issues ad-nauseum.
There are many varied reasons that it may not work.
I had many issues after receiving my truck, but after buying and using a USB-C cable, turning on CarPlay when locked by going to my iPhone Settings>General>CarPlay and selecting Uconnect>Allow CarPlay While Locked...it connects every time I plug it in.

This doesn’t work for everyone though and some were waiting for a Uconnect update to resolve.

There is no "projection manager" option on my truck. Have looked for that as I had that issue on another Chrysler product in the past.

Going to get a USB-C to lightning connection for my iPhone today. Thanks for that info.

Attempted a USB-c. No dice. The phone will charge, but as you can see, the UConnect system is not recognizing that there is a USB device connected.

Spoke with the service department at the local dealer today bu phone about making an appointment for this issue. They tell me that I have to have the UConnect App on my phone before the truck will recognize the phone is connected.

Anyone else hearing this?

mine works, NO uconnect app on my iPhone.
the iPhone needs to grant access to the truck to use Carplay. The iPhone will prompt you to allow it.

Ensure you're using OEM or MFI (Made for iPhone) certified cables to begin with.
Chinese knockoff cables will not work (even if they do charge the phone, the circuitry for data transfer will not be there).

Cheers,

I needed no adjustment settings for CarPlay to work. Using a plain old Amazon Basics USB-Lightning cable.

As noted, iPhone prompts you to allow access. After that one time approval, CarPlay works every time the phone is plugged in. Sorry not to be of more help. It just worked as expected in my case....

This might be a stupid question, but from the picture it looks like the UConnect is recognizing a USB device. If it didn't recognize it, it would be greyed out; at least in mine it does. It should automatically detect, but did you try pressing the USB1 (or USB2 if that's what you're plugged into)? I know it's silly but just trying to help you cover all your bases

I think I had to enable Siri on my phone as well at first. Good luck

No Uconnect app needed for me.

Have you hacked your phone? Shutdown any "unecessary" services? Android needs certain Google services to be running on the phone, it also need Android Auto installed on the phone. Maybe the same is true for Apple? Try resetting the phone.

The phone has been reset twice. Tried connecting my wife's phone, my phone and an iPad. Tried 4 different cords and all 4 USB ports on the media hub. The media hub does not recognize that anything is even connected to the USB ports.

Service appointment today at 3:30 for this and the recalls.

Ditto. But I'm not sure what you'd need to reset on the phone if you denied access the first time around. Mine's always worked with either Apple or generic cables, and it doesn't matter whether I connect before or after starting the truck. So I guess I'm not much help at all!

UPDATE!!!

Dealer states that there were several "loose connections" in my media hub, but they did get CarPlay to work today. Said that it might stop working again or it may never be an issue, but since I am under warranty they ordered me a new media hub, but of course it is back ordered.
