275.55.20 vs 275.60.20

I have a cross country trip coming up (3k+ miles) mostly highway and i am about to replace my tires with Michelin defender ltx m/s2.
I am on the fence between 275/55/20 and 275/60/20.
Besides the size difference between the two, and that the 33s look a little better. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to go to 33" tire vs stock 32"?
I have tazerDT to recalibrate if needed.

Con- Maybe a loss of MPG, but can't see it being much with those tires.

33s more meat (sidewall):
Better on road - pothole protection
Better off road - more sidewall for ruts, rocks, holes, slightly taller for ground clearance.
Looks a lot better

I'll get the 275/60/20 Michelin LTX M/S2. Coming from LT (E) rated tires for the past couple of years, I bet I will get a nice bump in mpg and quiet highway ride.

The mpg difference won’t be noticeable it it’s a 32” 4 ply tire going to a 33” 4 ply. It does looks better too

I went 275/60/20 years ago. And no regrets at all. My next set will be 275/60/20 Michelin LTX M/S2 too.
Michelin says that tire weighs only 39 pounds!
Which is far lighter than any other tire that I was considering in that size.
That and the fact that you are going one inch taller, I wouldn't be surprised if you gain a little MPG.
After calibration of course.

If the truck is kept in a garage, check for door clearance. It most likely will, but it is worth checking on to cover all the bases.

I ended up going with Cooper Adventurer 275/60/20. They were $150 less per tire installed compared to the Michelin. $600 less for all 4 installed.

Calibration with TazerDT is super easy. I set the tire size to 33" and speedometer now matches waze. Before it was off by 1 or 2 mph depending on speed.
The default setting for my 32" tires was 32.18, in case anyone is curious

Do you have any rubbing with the slightly bigger tire?
I currently have the 275/55/R20 factory tires, terrible in the rain.

I am looking to move to 275/60/R20 on my factory rims. I am trying to go slightly bigger for pothole/curb protection.
I am aware of the calibration issue. I have Alphaobd and a reader to fix that.
I can not afford to have to modify the truck with the bigger tire size.

i have only slight rubbing in entry/exit mode. All other modes are fine.
If you don't have air suspension then you will not have any rubbing

Thank you for the answer. I have a Laramie and not very fancy at that. AKA just springs with the 20-inch wheels.

You will be all good as far as clearance goes and you will appreciate the extra sidewall too.

I will very shortly need new tires so just making sure I can get the 275/60/R20 set of tires without a whole lot of mechanical work/effort. I know that I will have to make a tire size adjustment and I am prepared for that effort. I will make sure I am well versed in the ABS procedures as well as using Alpha OBD software which I already have done a little bit of work making very simple changes to learn how to use.

I too will be upgrading from the stock 275 55 20 to 275 60 20... Should look a lot better with a 2inch RC front leveling kit.

Spedo won't be too far off. I checked with a 275 65 20 and it's way too off.

It won’t be too far off with 277/60r20. Just be aware your odometer, DTE, instant MPG, and oil life monitor will not be correct either

I have had mine installed for about a month now and very pleased with going 275/60/20.
I drove for about a week before i updated the tire size with tazerDT. I did not really notice a difference before updating the size and after. I mostly did it because i wanted the Adaptive Cruise Control to be accurate.
I also did not see a mpg difference compared to the stock tires.
