Horrific Gas Mileage Hemi eTorque

Why does everyone think the eTorque is going to help with fuel economy other than the minor assist from the half turn of starting to move from a standstill and start/stop. After that, it's just a Hemi. I haven't had any updates done to my truck since I got it in August. See my fuelly in my signature. It's performing 1 mpg better than my 2011 and I attribute that to my 8-speed vs 5-speed.

Well, I hand calculated both my 2011 and this one. What am I mistaken about? My 2011 got right at 15.0 throughout its ownership. It did have the 3.55 rearend, though. It was a Longhorn 4x4.

Huh? My 2019 gets better fuel mileage than the 2011.

And, I also like the eTorque assisted braking that reminds me of my motorcycle and its engine braking characteristics.
I am monitoring this thread and do intend to get the TSBs done for the eTorque at some point.

Sounds like the TSB has helped you quite a bit. What's your MPG since getting it done?

It's certainly better on the highway, but I've gotta drive a week of commuting to see if overall average is higher

So true. I’ve not been using mine the last week, so after the updates I get an more accurate reading.

But, it’s been above freezing(strange for here), so no biggie.

Yep, I definitely start it a few minutes early on cold mornings. Via the app of course. And, winter fuel blends are worse on MPGs.

Got it back.

I have, never, ever seen that number on my screen. Most I ever had on that screen was 15.6.

This was my daily drive home plus a little more.

I just drove 40 miles, fairly hilly, 65-70mph got 19.7 on EVIC. Not bad for me.

That's incredibly good. I don't consider my truck as having any issues with mpg like others. I have not seen 19+ mpg at 65 or higher unless there's an elevation loss.

FYI: Fuelly has just added Bighorn with eTorque to the database. I pretended I was a Laramie for a couple days

So... If anyone has seen a real difference with a 5.7 eTorque using 87 vs 89 I'd love to hear about it. I'm wondering if it's worth it... Oh also if anyone has seen a difference between E10 and pure gas that's good info also (I don't have sheetz around here so the 88 E15 comparison isn't as useful to me but I do remember that conversation). I don't actually have any known pure gas stations near me either but when I trek to visit my kids in OK I make it a point to fill with that there

I reset my average MPG at the office. I was finally able to take the highway back to the house since I left late enough. Averaged over 23 MPG for the trip.

I'm looking forward to taking a road trip in my new truck.

Won’t be trying 87, but I started out on 93 and have lost at least 1-2 mpg going to 89. I remain skeptical about this, since the truck is supposedly tuned for 89, but the math has been consistent across a few tanks now. Continuing to baby the truck and monitor results...
