Price negotiated from MSRP

Realizing this thread is in its 83rd page, but might help if everyone did state whether a trade-in was involved in their deal. When you hear some huge amount off or some unbelievable/unrealistic OTD # without knowing whether it involved trade #'s, it's quite confusing (wondering how one come to that #).

Dealer Discounts are actually better than rebates. Rebates are applied instantly after the sale price so you end up paying taxes on rebates. But the discount lowers the actual sale price.

Clarify what you mean by that.
Don't think that just because it looks like it is an official invoice that it is. Once had a salesman show me how they will edit them. Of course that was before Internet, but they can be tricky buggers.

In a sales quote, dealer discounts are applied directly off the MSRP, otherwise known as the "selling price" on most sales quotes.

Manufacturer rebates are subtracted at the very bottom of the sales quote, after all taxes, fees, etc have been added on.

so, yes, essentially, you do pay tax on the rebates, so to say, because they are the last thing to be subtracted.

Its confusing what you said by "Dealer Discounts are actually better than rebates".....Because DOLLAR WISE, dealer discounts can EXCEED manufacturer rebates.

Just ask for the POC sheet, it shows the invoice, supplier price, employee price, and holdback.

Yes, everyone wants to wow the next guy. We will all do well if we know the facts when we go in to talk turkey. But I agree with a previous poster none of us really know what FCAs cost is on these fancy ponies.

And to that point, if everyone can calculate what % off full MSRP they paid before trade/tax/title/registration and keep sharing, that will level the playing field.

There’s too much variability in regional discounts, highly specific rebates (eg being a realtor), dealer cash (ram bucks), dealership sales quota bonuses, below the line incentives that never show up on a truck price (advertising money, discount incentives to order more trucks from the factory) for anything else to help others coming here to figure out how to get the best deal at any given time.

All JMO.

What is the POC sheet?
Priced Order Confirmation, see this thread: https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/is-wholesale-price-and-invoice-price-the-same.905/

Basically it's a breakdown of the invoice. It shows each option's MSRP and it's FWP (invoice) price and totals it all. It also shows the EP (employee price), FFP (friends and family price), and HB (holdback). If there is a truck you're really interested in, then ask the dealer for it. It makes your deal with them more transparent and eliminates the guessing game. A good rule of thumb is to shoot for invoice - holdback = dealer price, then whatever rebates you qualify for.

I either owe this forum kudos for saving me thousands or owe you all blame for supporting my expense of many more thousands (ha ha hmmm?)

Good luck on the hunt everyone!

Well said, I too feel the same way... haha

Wow ok...

That was a serious question regarding qualifying for 0%. I've tried to find ways to get pre-approved without having to do it at the dealership, and have been unable. I'm fairly confident in my credit score but I'd rather be positive than confident.

MSRP. 57,445
Dealer discount: 8,600
Rebates: 6,000

Before tax & license: 42,845.

Put down 20% got 5.5% financing.

Read all the posts in this thread, negotiated with dealer for 2 months via email, and they called me on New Year's with this deal.

Hey Guys! New to the forum, and new to Ram. Picked mine up Saturday, and think I got a pretty good deal. Let me know what you guys think!

2019 Laramie Crewcab 4x4 - 5.7L V8 (not etorque) LVL 1 Equip, Sport Appearance Pkg, 20" Rims, E-Locker, Hill Assist

MSRP: $54,425
Dealer Discount: $6625
Sales Price: $47,800
OTD (no trade): $51,902

Took the 0% financing instead of using my own. Best rates available were around 3.7-4% in my area, so total cost was lower this way vs. dealer discounts+rebates when you factor in interest. Worked with Lacey at Collierville CDJ in Collierville, TN.

You can do the credit online prior to going in. I was pre-approved before taking my flight to go get my truck.

I did the one with Capital, and received "pre-approval" for an amount up to $X but I didn't receive pre-approval for the 0% financing. Did you get pre-approval for the rate?

New to this forum, bought 2019 1500 Limited two weeks ago. MSRP $66,750, Rebates and Dealer discount brought the price down to $53,000 even. Of course this is before tax/title/tags. Located in Grosse Ile Michigan, dealer was in Woodhaven. No Trade
