Had my 2021 Rebel in today as the check engine light was on and the start stop wasn’t working it causes issues starting from stop light. Start stop warning came on as well. The tech said I have an after market led spot light ground attached to the ground on the battery sensor. This caused an issue with the computer that monitors the battery which was at 40%. The tech disconnected the ground and charged the battery. The battery did not recover and they replaced the battery and moved the ground for the LED spot light to the ground on the left fender. The tech stated due to after market LED they had to charge me diagnostic charge of $159.00, but the battery was covered. Even though new battery was installed I didn’t see any system issues. The tech said it was ground but, it might of been the battery since the ground wire has been installed for over a year.

2019 Limited non-etorque. Happened the first time Feb 17th, 2023. I pulled the battery and took it to O'reilly Auto Parts. They checked it and charged it, said the battery was good. Happened again March 23th. Charged it back up. Went and replaced with a Costco Interstate Battery that night. March 25th, went to start the truck and it was completely dead. Charged it but could not start it. Had it towed to the dealer on March 28th. They cannot find the problem but still have the truck as they are waiting on parts for the broken exhaust manifold. They say they have checked it multiple mornings and it has been fine. The amp draw when sleeping is within limits (cant remember if he said .3 or .03 amps). If they are unable to resolve, I may look into Ram Patriot's solution.
The only item of note is that I lower the vehicle and extend the running boards when parked at home. I wish the garage was a little deeper.

Hey there,

If you want some help with your truck while it's at the dealership, please reach out to us. We'd be happy to work alongside your dealer for this diagnosis. We're available via direct messaging.

Ah. I get what you were saying before. I thought you were saying you were parking in your garage and you wished it were a little longer, to make it easier to get around your truck while it's in there. Couldn't understand putting the boards down while it's in the garage.

The power boards obviously do have something in the system that stays on when they're down, so they (normally) retract a few seconds after you get out, lock the truck, and walk away. I wonder if some part of that is staying powered up when you leave it parked that way.

I owned a GMC Denali and now have a 2021 RAM with Hemi V8 eTorque and own two Battery Tenders which have worked flawlessly for years. Both vehicles, if left garaged for 5 days or more would experience parasitic battery drain, prohibiting starting them. As a result, not wanting to risk overcharging, believing “simple is best” I use this model available at Amazon for $52.86:
Battery Tender Plus Charger and Maintainer: Automatic 12V Powersports Battery Charger and Maintainer for Motorcycle, ATVs, and More - 12 Volt, 1.25 Amp Battery Chargers - 022-0185G-DL-WH

Since then, I do not encounter a dead 12V battery.

this came out recently, already install it on mine - they have 3 designs depending on your truck trim

I do not see instructions for the ram. was there any drilling required?
zero drilling, check my post# 31 - I added 2 videos - I got one of the 1st production plates and before there were other designs out so I had to cut/trim a piece of the plate.
But now there is a no need to trim anything out. Also there are more pics posted at the American truck website

This, coupled with some security bolts, seems like a great idea. Thieves want the quick in and out. Anything that slows them down will induce most of them to go to the next vehicle.

I haven’t had any further issues after replacing my battery a few months back but I did catch an instance where my dash cam was lit up, hours after the truck was parked and locked. I cycled the key and it went to sleep like normal but it makes you wonder how many times the various ACC circuits don’t enter sleep mode. The only other thing on was the little lights around the USB outlets. Everything else was off.

My truck was built first week of October 2021. I’m looking at the battery today for a build date and it’s 1-10-21. So now I’m wondering if they use military dating on these batteries where it’s date / month / year. The distributor is from Milwaukee, WI which is 350 miles from Detroit.

Does anyone have an original battery with the middle number higher than 12? The number is located on the top center closest to the fender and you need to pull back the cover slightly to see it.

If its a Ram pickup the batteries have a 3 year full warranty I believe. Perhaps on other product lines from Chrysler also.

Joined this club at the end of March, though not very disappointed I wasn’t expecting the battery to last given all these posts. I got just over 54,000 miles out of the oem battery over 2 & 1/2 years so can’t really complain I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

It threw three associates codes about low voltage on the computers, I cleared them after installing a new battery and no issues since fingers crossed🤞🏻

I went back one page in this thread and found a battery pic that was marked 15/10/18 in a truck built 10/18 which means they use military date coding on these batteries. My battery is marked 1/10/21, truck built 10/21 and getting replaced this October with a 7yr H8. The hassle of being stuck isn’t worth the little money it costs for an early replacement.
