GT Package

I noticed the RAM 1500 Laramie GT package comes with a Mopar cold air intake and exhaust (along with a couple other options listed on the ram website). Something the website does not mention is if the GT package comes with a different tune. Does anyone know if the GT package comes with a different tune from the factory versus the standard Laramie? I have a 2022 Laramie with Borla exhaust and contemplating purchasing the Mopar Cold air intake. But concerned if the extra air flow will warrant a new tune. If there is already a factory tune available (perhaps the GT package) that accommodates a Mopar intake and exhaust Id rather use that one in order to avoid any warranty concerns.

I don't believe there's a special tune, nor do I believe it significantly increases airflow.

No special tune is required for the Ram Air intake that comes with the GT package. I can't say for sure but I see no reason the GT package includes a special tune either.

There really is no "added" airflow from the Ram air intakes and no need for any special tune. Neither your exhaust or Mopar intake will make any noticeable difference in performance

I added both to my Bighorn and no tune needed. Sound is greatly improved but doubt much was gained with HP. Sounds like GT’s have similar mid 6 second 0-60 as I’m getting and same as every other RAM.

That’s a shame. Being a GT it should have better performance. Otherwise what’s the point?

My original plan was to order one but glad I basically built my own with purchased parts on the exact truck I wanted. Paddle shifters would be cool but guessing they wouldn’t get used much especially with no gained performance. I like to looks and feel of the console shifter but can see how that would be annoying taking up storage space.

It's all a matter of preference. Every time I get in my truck, I thank the Good Lord that I don't have the toaster oven knob on my dash.

Paddle shifters would be good if the ones in GT actually spun with the steering wheel instead staying static making it impossible to shift if you are turning.
Everything in the GT package is tasteful. I could say why would you bother getting any package, it's the same truck lol.

Not the one I test drove.

Does the TRX?

The paddles stay vertical on the sides of the wheel no matter if you are turning or not.

I have to believe the GT paddles are like the TRX paddles. On the TRX, they are part of the steering wheel.

I have to believe the GT paddles are like the TRX paddles. On the TRX, they are part of the steering wheel.

It is completely possible someone messed up the one I drove.

It was right next to Boston and in stock which is kind of a red flag. This was back at the end of 2021. Dealer had it at MSRP +10k.

Even pressing them was weird, they had to go in from the middle so depending on how you pulled them it wouldn't engage and get caught. I had to take my hand off the wheel to actually engage it.

It was a short test drive.

The paddle shifters on my 2012 2SS Camaro were placed where the volume rocker switch is on the Rams on both sides. I loved the placement.

You bring up a good point with comparing times. Id be inerested to see 0-60, 1/8, and 1/4 mile times between a 2022 Laramie and 2022 Laramie GT (equally optioned).

Thanks for all the input! I'm not really understanding why Ram would go through the trouble of creating a performance package (GT) and it have the same hp numbers, 0-60 time, etc. as a standard Laramie. After reading everyone's feedback, it seems pointless to purchase the Mopar Cold air intake. Roughly $800 for a part that does nothing different than what's already installed.
