I found this today. Not sure price wise how it compares to the even more diy setup.

When I ordered mine passive was not an option...I looked. Wish it had. I did order it at a time when I thought everything was available as I did get Led headlights, level 2 with folding mirrors, etc. which were things effected by the chip shortages.
I agree...It just comes down to when you order. Not your fault.

For example, throughout the 2022 order thread, i have seen features delayed or removed due to inventory shortages. I have seen even the color I picked early on (hydro blue) not available. Things like 12" screen and pano sunroof was delayed as well early on.

They even removed the rambox option all together...and never put it back...so I must be one of the early ones that got lucky with getting my order with a rambox.

I have not seen the passive entry option on a Big Horn yet. I don't think it was ever an option. I would like to see someone with it as a factory option.

I'm not saying it wasn't, but I don't know if I've heard that it ever was available to order. Could be the no one has ever chimed in who did get it from the factor. Given the way Ram does things and the chip shortage I admit that it is entirely possible that it was there, but now gone.

Looks great! I pick mine up (finally) from the dealership today. Those chrome lugs kinda stand out when the sun hits them!

Anyone reading who will be towing… I came from a Silverado 2500 diesel to the ram 1500 with the 3.92 gears. I have a 33 ft camper weighs 6700 dry. I was worried how it would pull being so long. I obviously won’t say it pulled as well as my diesel but I was pleasantly surprised by the how the 1500 hauled it today.

What concerns did you have with the Ram 1500 3.92 towing a 33' trailer? I assume like everyone you have a crew cab 5'7" box so the wheelbase is 144", Plenty for that size trailer in my opinion.

Just that being a short bed the camper would throw me all over. It really handled it well. It’s also a moderately windy day here. I was impressed I thought I might regret going away from a diesel but no regrets at all. Even maintained 10 mpg at 60 MPH.

I A$$umed. Ridiculous considering this isn't something new. Pretty sure my 2012 2500 BH had it. franc944's 2014 police car and my work 2018 fleet stripper Durango has it. That it isn't included, pathetic is a better word. You'd think the tech evolved and we eliminated the old tech as we go. Bet your butt the wiring harness has a provision so why not just do one thing? Using up inventory? BS! Chips, okay.. is what it is. Bring it back when they are available? Naw never part of the pkg, pay the upcharge. Oh did I mention I CAN'T buy a Laramie and up trim in a Quad? Pissed! Rant over.

It’s just not something you can get on the Big Horns. Ram wants you to bump up to Laramie or Rebel. For me, bang for the buck the BC is hard to beat, but you do give up some things.

The BC package certainly is appealing. Good deal considering all you get in that package.

My last two trucks were Laramie’s so I will be giving up a few things like passive entry and rain sensitive wipers. I’m gonna miss those two options the most.

@Dewey, in previous vehicles I was very used to some of the "higher end" options like passive entry and even rain-sensing wipers. Live in the Pacific NorthWet it is surprising the variety of types of rain and sensing wipers are an appreciated convenience. Heck, even my Wrangler has passive entry. I will see if I get used to not having it. After a few months if I really miss that feature, I will probably add it myself. I plan on adding the rain sensing wipers as it looks fairly easy.

Leer 180, with the Thule roof bars and ventilated windoors on both sides.
How high above the bottom of the bed is the roof in there? I want to put a Decked drawer system in mine and ideally I’d like to be able to sit upright in there…

I’m really interested in adding the rain sensing wiper option. Wondering what’s involved with that. Did a search but didn’t find anything.

It is in the adding adaptive cruise control thread. If you have auto dimming rear view mirror and auto climate control it is just a matter of switching out a humidity sensor on the windshield with one that does both rain sensing and humidity then activating it via AlfaODB. At least is my understanding.

There are posts for installing/enabling it. Doesn't look like much to it. I need to see what's involved with passive entry. I have not seen any posts for that one., but I haven't searched yet.
