Hey all, two days ago my 2021 RAM Laramie key FOB just stopped working. The little red light still comes on when I press the buttons. The FOB is still detected to start the truck or unlock the doors by proximity when grabbing the handles. However, none of the buttons on the FOB function. I replaced the battery and nothing changed. Any suggestions? My dealership is booked out weeks for appointments.

*I should add that i haven’t changed anything or added any accessories to cause this. I cannot pinpoint any differences or changes around the time it stopped working.

Have you recently added any LED bulbs anywhere on your truck? There are known issues with certain LED bulbs and the key fob function. Or have you recently installed a new garage door opener, or started using a new garage?

Nope. Nothing new at all

Sorry, my only suggestion then would be to have it looked at. Are there any other dealerships in your area that might be able to get you in sooner?
Unfortunately not this time of year.

Got home and tried my spare key fob and it didn’t do anything either so it must be something in the truck that is not functioning properly

I’ve had key fob not detected issues. I recently added LED to my third break light above the cab/bed. Could this be the problem?
what would be a solution?

Yes, that's exactly the reason I asked the OP if he recently added any LED bulbs to his truck. Some people have also had problems when they upgraded their garage door opener lights to LED bulbs. Which is why I also asked the OP about whether he did that.

Any luck on this OP? One of our customers is having the exact same problem right now. Curious to know if you found the problem and solution.

Up to this point, I can't duplicate the problem. I have put both my key fobs back on the hook in the garage (approx 5 ft from vehichle) and I have not had the flashing hazards and lights issue. My BIL thought maybe it was the solar flares/norther lights we had last weekend but I don't know if I believe that or not. Have no other explanation at this point.

There is a potential that your RF hub on the back wall behind the rear seat is failing. Usually from an undetected water leak from the back window or the third brake light.
Check the ceiling for discoloration, and check for drip lines under the back window. Check the rear floorboard for moisture. I have read several posts with similar symptoms. I as of this time have not had any problems that match your symptoms. An easy way to check the rear floor is to flip the rear seats and check that way. Change out the batteries on both remotes, I do understand that you changed at least 1 battery, cheap fix in cost and time.
The fact the doors unlock and still starts says that the RF module is at least partially functioning, but may be experiencing a partial failure which makes this a challenge and may require the dealer equipment to find and determine the cause and solution - time and money, but they have tools that most of us just do not have.

I am just taking a swing at the best bang for the buck for time factors that may lead you to a problem and eventual solution(s).

I am keenly interested in the problem determination and its solution. Please keep us informed on the eventual resolution.
