Speculating my exit strategy on my Raptor

When may the TR and TRX be available to order? Thinking that a year from now may be a good time to get out of my truck. I am a bit persuaded in considering a Rebel 12 now but I think I may regret making that decision in about a year's timeframe.

I’m also debating between a Rebel 12 and waiting for a TR/TRX. I’m guessing the TRX won’t be available until sometime in 2020 though. The fact that the Rebel 12 isn’t currently available to order is making my decision for me (at least for now).

I just read a recent article that the Rebel TRX is a 2020 model coming out in middle of 2019. Previous reports had it a 2021 model in 2020. If that's true great! When the new Raptor dropped I tried to give the Ecoobost a chance, but after hearing it start, and drive, I just couldn't do it. A shame because it looks great on the outside.

V8 or bust for me.

Prior to my Raptor I had a Gen 4 Ram and it was a good truck overall other than the ****ty 5 spd. My Raptor is great as well, no problems etc. The power is stellar of course but the interiors of the new Gen 5 Rams look to be really nice. That with a new 426/7.0 though may motivate me to jump back to a Ram.

I think its going to be a tough choice between the hellcat and 426. I traded in my hellcat for my ram knowing I would be getting a TRX when they come out.
As much as I miss the supercharger power and whine, I really want a 426 in a truck.

I have all the power I need in a truck right now. The 426 I'd think will at least match the power in the Raptor. It would be great to have that SC whine in the Hellcat motor but the Challengers and Chargers already can't handle the power of that 6.2. Sure it would be tuned for more torque in the TRX but that would be absolute madness...hmm maybe I do want that after all:LOL:

Believe me I know.
I have a extremely long list of things I did to my challenger.

I think that's why would go with the 426.
I know there will be aftermarket support, but it's so easy to mod the 6.2. I wouldn't have the will power

Always waiting, that's the problem. Did it with a GT350 (twice) and my Raptor. My '12 Ram 1500 only took 5 weeks to get however...

Hey it's the tires on those that are too thin!
707hp and the rear tires run a little bit narrow? That'll do it.
It's one of the benefits of the widebody models IIRC, fatter tires getting the power to the ground.

I the the T-Rex (Get it, because it's bigger than a Raptor) with a Real V8 in there will be just the ticket.
No interest in the ecoboost if a big V8 is on the menu, and I think Ram intends to offer exactly that.

Switched from a '17 Raptor to a Rebel 12...zero regrets.
Good riddance to the Raptor...I won't miss it.
Couldn't be more satisfied with the Rebel...awesome truck! View attachment 9087 View attachment 9088 View attachment 9089

If the Ford had a V8 of some flavor (I'm not sold on the ecoboost family) and a steel bed, I might own one.
Alas, it does not.
I remember how much I liked looking at the Gen1 raptor, and I think the Ram Rebel was a sexier version of it.
Same for the Gen2 trucks. The rebel is/has everything I need/want, nothing I don't (the way I can order it), and it comes with an actual V8? Gravy.

Jake you're fan of good vehicles, what kind of exhaust you putting on that rebel 12 you got?

Just curious, what combination of things makes you say "good riddance to the Raptor"?

What makes you say "good riddance to the Raptor"?
weak brakes...rear drag when coming to a stop
engine rattle cold start up
engine shudder when cold
HVAC blend door squeal on start up
HVAC developed a moldy smell with A/C
10spd tranny unimpressive ~ full throttle hard shifts
old tech leaf spring instability
wind noise/whistling ~ highway
interior squeaks/rattles
Raptor should have a high output Coyote V8...Ford missed the mark
substandard dealer service
Raptor's a "status" truck with no competitors...quality issues killed the novelty
Resale was outstanding...Rebel 12 sealed the deal...perfect timing

From a former Raptor 2x owner wait for the TR/TRX.

That's what I'm doing anyways while I rock a Laramie for DD.

Unless you bought the Raptor for the looks, the TR/TRX should at least match(hopefully) the current Raptor suspension wise for heavier/faster offroading.

I may go TR due to N/A. Having a roush charged Raptor was fun on the street but was very easy to say oh **** in a mix of fear and joy on the dirt. That and price/adm for the TRX.

I'm getting the itch, really bad. Like freakin' poison oak. Don't know if I can hold out for a TR but in a year I know I'll regret it if I were to get a Rebel 12 now.

Have a link to that article? That would be quite the surprise. I suspect that if it were six months out, we'd know a lot more about it by now. Consistent and reliable rumors appear to have quorum and consensus on a 2020 arrival. Still many unknowns, but all indications are it is still more than a year away.

TRX IS a Rebel. ;)
No need to wait - buy now and trade up. The TRX will be out of range of many a Rebel buyer, so the Rebel should hold it's value well.
