E Torque - Auto stop and start

Mine will not stop unless temperature control is set to 68. The 2021 turned off at just a nudge over the coldest setting. The new etorque sucks compared to the 2021

“Cabin heating or cooling is in process and an acceptable cabin temperature has not been achieved” page 174 of your owners manual

When the truck turns off your ac compressor turns off, so the truck knows it won’t keep your cabin that cold if it’s off, it works better to keep it in auto and a normal desired temp then the truck will cycle on and off.

My engine cuts out with the temperature set to 65.

Take it in and have it looked at if it's not functioning as it's supposed to. You've been posting about your issues with this system in multiple threads and multiple 5th gen forums. If yours is behaving differently from what's described in the manual, then there's a problem with it. I suspect it's a matter of the cabin temp not reaching set point, which disables stop/start. But it's very possible yours does have a real issue. I know they changed the system for 2022, for better or worse. But it should still fundamentally function the same way.

Yes it is going to get looked at as it does not function according to the owners manual or compared to the 2021

It says it won’t work if they cabin temps not been achieved. If you set it at 68 and the cabin is 70. The truck won’t shut off..

Had the truck on coldest setting for an hour. Freezing inside and it will not turn off until the temp dial is at 69

On the 2021 it did not matter what the inside temp was. As long as I was not on the coldest setting it worked flawlessly

Yeah in theory only. Those figures are far off from actual mpgs on these Rams.

I’ve exceeded the Highway rating and haven’t seen under 18.

Yep, exactly how mine behaves. If it knows I'm going to stop, it cuts the engine out. I don't mind it. Haven't turned the feature off yet.


Sticker says I should be getting 19 combined and I'm getting 20.2 when not towing. I can live with that.

Wow, 19 is good. I don't track mine but in the details on the LCD screen it shows I average 16mpg.

My overall average since buying the truck is 13.9, but that's including all the towing I've done which makes up a majority of the miles on it.

Reading threads like these makes me damn glad I got a mid 2019 model that just has a good old straight V8 with no etorque and start/stop. I’m sure the ET and AS/S has a 1 or 2mpg advantage but I’ll gladly sacrifice that for an old school V8!

Reading threads like these makes me damn glad I got a 2022 model that just has a good old straight V8 with no eTorque and start/stop. Now all I have to do is flip the tow/haul or -/+8 on the gear selector to disable the MDS.

I'd be curious to drive a '22 based on this statement. I've driven several cars with stop/start, and my the S/S on my truck is by far the smoothest. It's not even close. I'm not sure how much more smoothly they could make the system. Not that I'd keep it enabled though.
