I noticed this has been discussed a bit in the forum. My concern is now the dealer has replaced the TSB: Active Noise Cancellation Module and the noise persists. At first on a road trip they had to re-configure the module which took noise away at high speeds but made them 10x worse at low speeds. Now with a new module and update it still continues. 30-45 MPH sounds like a drone is flying inside the cab and attributes to a vibration in the steering wheel. I thought I had bought my dream truck and now going on 2 weeks without it is making me second guess my purchase.

Now the dealer is going on a 2nd STAR ticket. Won't have my truck for the holidays and stuck in a rental in which we can not tow with.

Has anybody experienced the same issues?

Update: The dealer ended up having to push some more updates along side the most recent TSB update in order to tame the noise coming through from truck shutting down cylinders. Picking up in a couple of hours and will update. Thanks for all the input.

Yeah I think I just heard the same thing when I was on my way to get gas... It's almost like wind noise coming from a blowing vent or the sound my laptop makes when the fans are engaged.

Hello Ernst Rocks, what was the outcome of this issue as I have the same issue for my new Rebel 1500. Please reply to me at [email protected] so I don't have to hunt for the response. I purchased my Rebel October 2018 and experienced this "intermittent low humming" noise on the highway traveling level ground in cold weather at about 45-55 mph.

I am taking my truck in to the dealer again today 2nd time.

Any more updates on this problem?
Just got our 19 Ram out of the shop for the second time with this noise complaint. And guess what... noise is still there.
What a pain!! They must not be aware of it around here!

2 weeks ago just bought a Ram 1500 Tradesman. It has the Drone sound at times too and can happen at any speed. One time it was so loud it hurt the ears. After researching and coming across a couple of forums on this website and reading about the ANC I took the Ram into the dealer and of course during the test drive it didn't act up. The Tech said the ANC had all the updates. The folks ask that I record the sounds when they occur. I will have a recorder ready from now on when I drive and record the sound. This is my 3rd Ram and I love them. After a couple of more trips to the dealer after recording the sound and if they can not correct the problem I will file under the Wisconsin Lemon Law. It's a shame but I will no put up with this noise. Thank you to all other members who report this issue.

I bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn 5.7 hemi a couple weeks ago and I'm getting the loud intermittent drone noise. Driving from Colorado to Texas using the cruise control set at 75 mph on semi flat Hwy, the truck would have a loud drone sound. It was so annoying, it would drone for a few seconds and the stop for a few seconds consistently. On the way home I was having the same problem, the only thing that I found to make it stop was setting the cruise control to 80 mph. I think the droning noise is coming from the Multi-Displacement System (MDS) but I'm not sure. I it is the MDS the noise is not acceptable. I will be checking to see what my options are.

Mine did that cyclic droning at 72 mph. The dealer followed TSB 08-056-19 and reprogrammed something and it seems cured. I haven;t heard the noise again in several weeks.

Hi vyork,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you do end up addressing this with your dealer, please know that our team is just a private message away and we are more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of support while your truck is in service.

Going on a full year of dealing with this noise. Back and forth to the dealership, on the phone with FCA, reflashing ECU, crack your windows, turn on tow/haul mode, blah, blah, blah. FCA simply doesn't know what the problem is. I posted a short video on YouTube with more to come. You really cannot hear the noise very well unless you have speakers with a bit of bass. If you have this noise, good luck... I'll be talking to FCA Engineering again today.

That noise would drive me up the wall. If they couldn't fix it after 3+ visits, I'd be seeing a Lemon law attorney.

Tell them to reverse the leads on the door speakers. This can be done by repinning the wires at the ANC module/amp depending on which stereo system you have in the truck that way you do not have to pull the door panels. The ANC signal is out of phase by 180 degrees instead of cancelling the noise by producing the tone 180 degrees out it is reproducing a tone at the same phase and is causing a drone. Here's a link to mine from a year ago. I replaced all the door speakers and ended up with a drone after replacement because the wiring diagram in the manual is actually wrong and all the door speakers were reverse phase. Pulled the door panels and reversed the leads going to the speakers and the drone went away.

In the one of the videos the truck is parked with the window down with the RPM held at 2500, I roll up the window and the drone starts a little bit after the window is closed. The drone seems to be very RPM dependent.
