Tire Recommendations for New Owner

i like the coopers but i have never been able to get the warrantied mileage out of any set... doubt the michelins will get 70 but 2 sets of sra's lasted only 35k each

Thanks. It was actually between the Coopers and the Continentals for me. The Continentals got better ratings for highway driving so that’s what made them the winners for me.

Definitely report back on your experience with them. I do long highway drives with the coopers (~100 miles round-trip at 75mph) on a weekly basis and have been happy with the noise levels and smoothness. But obviously haven't driven the Continentals.

It's good to know there are several great options out there for these trucks!

There's actually so many solid options that it'll drive you crazy trying to settle on one lol

I ended up going with the mostly obscure Falken Wildpeak HT02's. Been fantastic so far.

I just put some 60k Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek on my '19 Laramie. I've only driven them a few hundred miles, but so far I really like them. They have a great feel and a barely noticeable road hum.

I'm not near ready for tires on my 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn which I only have 3,100 miles on, but wish the stock 20" Bridgestone Dueler H/L's had a higher load rating. I have experience with Cooper tires. I put some 265-75/16 Cooper AT3's (Load Range E) on my 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4WD (79,500 miles) about 10 years ago. For a somewhat aggressive tire they ride good and are not noisy. Mine only have 17,000 miles on them, they've worn even with 65psi, but I'll need to replace them after this winter. I live in the mountains of WNC, the Chevy is my work truck, so it's seen some heavy loads and towing. So the Cooper's didn't get good mileage, but my tires have aged out. Before I bought my Ram back in March I looked into putting some Pirelli SCORPION ALL TERRAIN PLUS Load Range E on my '01 Chevy, and may do that in spring. I believe Tire Rack rates them the best in it's category, but Pirelli doesn't have that tire to fit my Ram.

Thanks for all the info guys. I went with the continentals.
I wish that Continental made full sized truck tires. I like them on my Lincoln and when I had them on my Buick. They just have the oversized car tires they call LT though. Need to add some 35s and 37s to the lineup.

I may have some 275/60/20 Falken Wildpeak AT3W with 2000 documented miles on them for sale soon. Looking to lift and go with a larger tire. I’ve been very happy with them. Located in DFW TX

How did these hold up?

those have a nice look to them and they aren't crazy expensive like the toyo's and others out there at $400-$500 per tire. I have the limited with 22's so my options are limited (no pun intended!). These Coopers are $337/tire with 285/45/22. Wish they came with a bit larger sidewall though.

These are what I put on and are fantastic tires and look decent also.

Yeah I’ve got the HTs. Might try the ATs when I wear these out. Absolutely love them.

My statistical analysis of this forum shows 100% of people have zero regrets with Continentals.

I went with Pirelli Scorpion AS+3's and so far they have been far better in the rain than the Goodyear's. It was between the Michelin Defender LTX and Pirellis for me as my truck is 99% pavement. My issue with the defender is that its not a full width tire. The tire may list as 285MM across but that's at the side wall, not the actual tread width. I don't like the look nor the loss in additional tread width/traction/performance.

The Pirellis are about 1" wider than the stock goodyears (and all most 2" wider than the Defender LTX) so it better fills up the wheel well and the wet traction is far far better. Performance wise, these feel lighter than the Defender LTX, had 2 sets on my previous truck in the 275/55/20 size, better in the rain and much better in the dry especially performance wise. They are around the same price

Hello. I need to replace the tires at 29,000 miles. Is this the average life for the falkens in suburban driving? The dealer suggested replacing with new falkens that are 60k tires. So if the 60k tires last 30k miles, that’s not very good. I am looking around and am amazed at how many manufacturers and their options there are. Does anyone have any idea on the Uniroyal tires that was recommended? I am in the Atlanta area so would look at tires for this area. The car has the 18 inch rims. I once replaced tires on another car and that set was so noisy. Noise is a big consideration. Any suggestions?

IDK about the falkens but when I replaced mine, the discount tire sales person said that none of the tires reach the guarenteed mileage despite whats listed. Most people dont realize this and just buy new tires not realizing they can get a credit for the amount of mileage you didnt get, thats probably the biggest takeaway

Falkens on my 2021 Subaru are shot at 21000!!!
On my 2001 Excursion diesel I got great milage with Michelin, great wear with Continentil on my RV.
I'm looking at Michelin, Continentil, or Cooper.
