A month ago I purchased a set of Morimoto XB LED fog lights. They look nice, were easy to install and adjust, but they aren't much brighter than stock Halogens. I had time tonight to see what my options are and I'm going to put Super Nova LED H11 (V.4) bulbs into the original housings. They will be 2+ times brighter than stock bulbs. There is a video on youtube showing both side by side with the actual lux readings. (200 lux halogen fogs compared to Morimoto 320 Lux compared to 720 Lux Super Nova LEDs in same Halogen housings)

Here is the link to the Morimoto Led fogs that I don't like. https://www.headlightrevolution.com/dodge-ram-morimoto-xb-led-LF-RAM1500_2?quantity=1

What sucks is the picture on the page is a little misleading. The picture looks like nice driving lights but in reality they are low output fog lights.
So buyer beware. Don't purchase these expecting very bright lights, these are not.

From what I learned about Fog Lights, manufacturers tend to keep "Fog Light" illumination down because fog tends to scatter light and more brighter light is not necessarily better. We all drove in the fog and when you flip your hi beams on, you see a lot less because of the fog.... But I want brighter fog lights so in the rain on dark back roads, I won't drive into a tree. Maybe I'm too old to see? Or I find these lights just too dim.

I have no ill feelings with the company I purchased these from. I simply waited too long to return them. That is my fault.

When I had my 2015 Jeep I replaced all the Halogens on that with KC lights. The headlights were cool looking ( the top half would light up for the low beam). The headlights were $500 which I thought were stupid expensive. I replaced the fogs with the same brand and those fog lights you could drive around all night long and leave the headlights off. These fog lights were fantastically bright with a wide beam.

When you have a good experience with a former product, I just want what I had. I miss those fog lights. The Ram has crappy fog lights. What's sad the replacements I purchased are no better.
Maybe next weekend if I get the Super Nova bulbs, I will replace the fog lights and see if that works out.

They are easy to swap out. You go thru the inner fender, just push the thin inner plastic liner out of the way. 2 screws I think and you fold it back like cardboard. 2 maybe 3 screws hold the light assemblies in the bumper. Unplug the wiring. Leave the fender liner loose because you will need to adjust the lights up or down. I do that on the garage wall, a few inches below the low beam....

Yes, your correct. I'm like a kid in the candy store when looking for lights.

Diode Dynamics makes great bulbs. I have the 3rd brake light and cargo lights and they are stupid bright. I think just changing the bulbs might be a less expensive option, as the least expensive DD cube is fairly low powered (like traditional fog lights) The other cube offerings would be brighter but are more $$ than just swapping out bulbs. I will file DD option as plan B. Thanks

I have the diode dynamics SS3 fog lights on my truck and they are direct plug/play. Super bright and very nice output.

The price for SS3 pro are a little over $300. This will be plan B if the SuperNova bulbs don't work out. They have a few videos on line, yes they are superior to the lens I already purchased.

Have you ever tried yellow lights for fogs? The whole point for the fog light is to cut through fog/rain which is why it’s mounted so low. Brighter light will just have the same effect as high beams do in fog. Yellow light doesn’t get scattered as much as the white light does. Diode dynamics makes great yellow LEDs for fogs.

If brighter light is what you’re after, maybe try brighter headlights or adding a light bar as mentioned.

Yellow is better to see but they are not as bright. Fog lights are designed to have a wide beam, but a narrow beam (up down) to limit how much light they throw up in the mist to limit the glare from the light being bounced back. I think it's a wash between yellow or white. The best thing is to keep them aimed low to help try and get under it if you can.

I got a 20" lightbar on the truck now & led headlights but there is 1 section of snake road I travel on which is narrow and dark at 2am every night on the way home. Deer love that spot, so that's the lightbar's mission to save my truck from a collision. But when it's foggy there, I can't use it. This is why I want brighter fogs.

I just ordered Diode Dynamics white Pro SS3 fog lights. From watching the videos I posted they are better than the Super Nova bulb swap. Maybe I will get them by the weekend. The SN bulbs will sit in the parts box I guess when they arrive.

What good is blinding everyone else on the road. PLEASE use them only off road.
