I ordered my 21 without. Didn't want it, didn't like it and I didn't need it. From a performance standpoint the etorque is slower. I was at the track with a friend that has a 21 etorque with basically the options as my truck and my times were half a second quicker in the ⅛th.

If I was forced to get etorque then I would not be happy and would probably cancel my order.

He was doing something wrong then. Considering the system adds a little over 100ftlbs of tq. Per ram

Ram boxes, multi function tailgate, pano roof, long/short bed….

These are they big weight adders.

If the trucks were the same in these regards, then either etorque driver error or…. You’re on to something!

That's what they claim but I think it bogs the motor down, robbing horsepower.

Personally I don't understand why you wouldn't want this feature added. Do some research and find out how much technology ram has put into this feature to make the truck better. I mean who wouldn't want more improved fuel economy, better towing and hauling capability, and quieter, smoother operation. I personally requested Etorque after a extensive amount of research. Love mine so far! spend the extra couple thousand and upgrade! you will be happy you did!

The Laramie 60’ times are 0.17 faster which you can double at the 1/8 mile. Did both have the traction control disabled when racing??
Think you are confused. The first time ticket with the red box is the Laramie e torque. The second time slip is the Limited without e torque, which is my truck. Both had traction control on. Neither one of us spun off the line which I was really surprised about.

Door weight isn't really going to give us an accurate weight since we have both added things to our trucks. That's why we are going to use the CAT scales at the local truck stop next week after work.

And yes we both filled up before we left to go to the track so we should have used the same amount of fuel, except I have the 33 gallon tank.

Yes I wrote it incorrectly. Limited is VVT (faster and very possibly heavier) and Laramie is E-torque.

You need to turn traction control off when on the drag strip for accurate ets

Better is subjective. It does get better fuel economy. Towing and hauling is reduced according to the info in this thread. I just rode in an eTorque Laramie today and it wasn't any quieter or smoother than mine. eTorque was $200 when I ordered my truck and now that it's free, I still wouldn't add it but to each his own.

Better towing in that it adds 130 lbs ft of torque off the line. Reduced tow rating by 70 lbs is hardly an issue

i didnt buy a limited because i was forced into an e-torque, i also didn't add a 26 gallon tank because it forced you into a e-torgue, i love the idea of it but with my luck i'd be the guy with the stalling / re-starting problems.

Adding 130 lbs ft of torque "off the line" is hardly better towing. I agree about the 70 lb hit in payload.

The 5.7L’s Magneti Marelli generator produces 16 hp/49 lb-ft of torque.

The advertised “130 lb-ft” is quite misleading because that number comes from gear reduction.

That would be like advertising that the Hemi w/ 3.92 axle gives you 1,607 lb-ft of torque.

In reality, with 10% tongue weight the 70 lb payload hit will reduce towing capacity by 700 lbs.
