Left turn signal won't turn off

Has anyone had an issue with the left turn signal sometimes not turning off after the turn is completed (or on the highway when changing lanes)? The turn signal arm will return to the center position but the blinker keeps on blinking. This has happened 3 times in the last couple of weeks.

The first time it eventually stopped blinking after turning the vehicle off. Two other two times it happened on the highway (kind of dangerous) and the only way to get it to stop was to put the turn-signal arm into the right-turn position (and no right-turn signal would activate). I got it to eventually stop by shifting the turn signal arm hard up and down (not real forceful but harder than I'd like). The third time it happened, when shifting to the right turn position, that blinker would activate but putting it in the center position or the left position caused the left turn blinker to activate (you should have seen the angry drivers behind me!). The truck only has 5k miles so I'm not due for servicing for a while. I'll bring it in to a dealer but wanted to check with the forum first to maybe save some time - plus it most certainly won't happen while at the dealer. Thanks.

We certainly understand why this would be concerning, pladd. If you are unable to remedy this concern with the assistance of fellow forum members, I kindly suggest connecting with your local Ram dealer. Please know that we are more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of support if you do address this with your dealer.

I am having the exact same issue. Have not taken it in yet. Has yours been fixed yet? What was the root cause? Know I’m late to the party. Thanks for any info.

This happened to me as well and went away on its own very weird.

First time I have about 700kms on the truck and it was this way for about 200kms and multiple on off cycles.

The second time it happened with 17000kms on it and stopped with one power cycle.

It has not happened since. I now have 65000kms on the truck

It's a bad multifunction switch. I replaced a lot of them on the Ram Promaster van's at work. Turn left signal on make the turn and straighten the wheel out and the signal does not cancel. The signal lever may return or slightly move but the light stays on. The multifunction switch needs to be replaced. Once replaced the steering angle sensor should be recalibrated as well.

What do you mean by the multifunction switch? The turn signal stalk? FYI, I also never got my truck to the dealer and the issue went away for a while but now its back. Almost seems temperature related. I have the problem during the summers but not the winter. I'm not to bothered by it so I've just ignored it. I'm at 53k miles now and I've had this issue since maybe 12-15k.

Yes, the multi function switch would be the turn signal switch and or the wiper switch on certain vehicles. It can also be known as the clock spring. The steering wheel and steering column collar/covers need to be removed to replace the multi function switch. The switch is a module that contains the "clock spring" which is a coil of wires that allows you to retain switch functions while turning the steering wheel
