Odd considering all the advanced safety package items are included in the level 1 package anyway. Almost seems like they're just trying to streamline things more and funnel people to the level 1 vs having two very similar packages. Was this for a placed order or still in the quoting stage?
I agree, but Technology Group has HUD which I wanted on my truck.

I think they're going to push to make their money where they can. With the chip shortage they're being forced to allocate these features for the highest trims for the customers willing to spend the most. This means margins on lower trims are tighter. Chances are a Limited buyer is far more likely spend the cash for Limited 1 over the ASG and a Laramie purchaser will think twice about the ASG.

I recently read that more and more buyers are purchasing highest trim options these days. They know that most Limited buyers at least want the ASG and the vast majority of those will take Limited 1 over neither L1 or ASG.

I'm in that boat. I'm moving to a truck from a fully loaded Accord. I couldn't imagine driving something the size of this vehicle (especially coming from a car) without blind spot monitoring and the only way to get that was to pay thousands more to get a Limited. I bit that bullet. I know there are other features coming along with that increased price, but it was that and adaptive cruise that pushed me over the edge.

What time did you buy on May 5th? I bought at 4:30pm Hawaii time, which would be 7:30 in California, trying to figure out who put the last order in. Mine has shipped, last I heard it was in Clapper Missouri that was 2 weeks ago, so it might be in a holding lot waiting for another railcar, trying to get to Long Beach to get on a boat. I grew up in the East Bay.
Sorry, I don’t remember the time.
I go fishing out of Long Beach and there are a lot of Container ships outside of the Harbor lined up to be unloaded. Hope the backlog doesn’t affect the loading of your truck. You can see the ships on MarineTraffic.com

I have heard there is a backlog coming into California. Most of our stuff comes in on Matson, an American shipping company, not sure about the cars. I tried getting on the union pacific website to see if I could find the truck, I was able to get a login through my company but I cannot get the information about the truck , you need another login to put the vin in and track, I am think the dealerships get that login. Like I said, last I heard 2 weeks ago it was in Clapper MO., does it go through denver and salt lake or through el paso.

My dealer said it'll be about 5 weeks to get a VIN (3 more weeks). I'm almost wondering if this dealer waits to release the VIN until the order is in C or D status possibly. They might wait until there's some movement before telling the customer. For all I know a VIN could have been assigned already. Sales rep hasn't given any hint of anything being amiss. Regardless, I guess I can't do much except wait. I'm curious to see where my VIN will land on @Eighty chart. That should give us an idea of when it was issued.

Ditto: Moved up from a Laramie to Limited Longhorn to get all the options I wanted including tech group and ASG. Hope the order stays as is.

Anyone know the process or likelihood of customers making changes to an order after it's been accepted, VIN populated?

As long as its in D status, should be able to. You might have to push the dealer and/or push them to contact their rep.

I have no personal experience with changing an order after the fact. But based on feedback in this forum, it seems to be hit-and-miss. Some have successfully changed an order. At least one, IIRC, was told no. And at least another one was told yes (but it didn’t happen).
🤷‍♂️

Wanted to add multifunctional tailgate. Was told it had to be a Laramie or above to do that. Mine is a Lonestar. I should have got it on the original order.

I was specifically told by Mark that I could not change the order or cancel it after submitted. I wanted to add 22 inch tires shortly after the order became firm and a Vin was applied. You may have to push really hard to get to change it. In my case I’m otherwise OK with the build

Thanks all. I'm going to leave well enough alone. I'm happy with the build and don't want to push my luck getting bumped to the end of the line, losing an option I really do care about, etc!

Hi All,

This is my first post. I've been on the forum for about a week looking around and gleaning quite a bit of knowledge from everyone. Today I went to a RAM dealer that's about 5 minutes from my house to place an order for a 2022 Limited 1500.

I have the POC which the manager who placed the order handed to me, no questions asked, which I thought was a nice gesture. It's interesting to see the Employee Pricing and FFP "Tread Lightly" numbers which should come in handy when negotiating price.

The manager said the order would go in on Friday 08/06 with their monthly order of vehicles since my truck would be "replacing" another truck that would have been sent to the dealership.

As has been confirmed in this thread and elsewhere Maximum Steel Metallic Paint isn't available for 2022 and the Technology Group can't be ordered at this time. I was fine going with my 2nd paint choice of Granite Crystal Metallic, but was bummed about the Technology Group. I figured if I was going with the Limited, I should get all the bells and whistles, right??

My salesman let me test drive a 2021 Eco Diesel Limited they had on the lot which had the Technology Group. After seeing the HUD and Digital Rearview Mirror in action, I'm actually fine without them. The HUD was hard to see in bright sunlight and the digital rearview mirror was really distracting while driving. I could see how it would be useful when towing a trailer, but I'm not planning on doing that.

So the waiting game commences.....

Congrats! If you’d like to be added to the tracking excitement, please share the details once you get them (order date that it went into the system, last 6 digits of VIN).
I’m a little surprised on the information about the order submission. Sounds like the dealer is on an allocation, so they had to remove a stock order to put in your order? I’ve seen some mentions of allocations elsewhere, but didn’t really think it was true.

I'm confused, it sounds like you placed an order but haven't negotiated a price?

Technically, the order hasn't been placed. That will happen on Friday. Once the manager knows the truck will be accepted by RAM to be built with my exact specs we'll negotiate price, run my credit score, etc.
