Saw on another Ram Forum that 1500s (DT) along with Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers built after 4/13/2021 will only come with one key fob from the factory due to the chip/transmitter shortage. Build sheets will make note of this, as seen in the attached photo.

That Sux! I was looking at getting a third one, but they are $150 if you can find them at the discount parts place.

That stinks. I’d hope they lower the price accordingly so folks can purchase a second one when they become available.

You would think that would be the case but I'm pretty sure Stellantis is counting on people paying the same price.

I don't think that they dropped the MSRP when dropped the SXM subscription from 1-year to 6-months.

GM is taking a whopping $50 off MSRP for their trucks that aren't going to have active cylinder management due to the chip shortage.

Even though I bought the first year of a new generation that had some growing pains I am glad to have avoided questions about "COVID quality" production - whether that's how well the truck was built after factories started back up (not just getting a "Friday/Monday truck") or shortages of supplies that limit options available without a comparable reduction in price.

I may have been to the dealership 9 times in the first 2 years of ownership but at least I have 2 key fobs to show for it. (y) 😄

So, if you happen to lock your keys in the truck by mistake?

It should be obvious to pretty much everyone by now that it's not a good time to buy a new car/truck from any manufacturer. I'll just keep driving my truck which was built a few months before there was even a hint of covid. I'm sorry for anyone who is affected by all this.

To be honest, literally nobody on the GM forum cares about this; all the posts are saying "this is a great time to get a new 5.3" and I'd agree with that. Cylinder deactivation is being forced on us, I'd pay up to $500 or more to have the thing 100% missing from my truck.

Yep, I posted about that on Wednesday as that is what the dealer told me about the keyfob. You get one and get and IOU when the supplies are there.

This would be okay for me, as long as I received the second fob when supplies recover.

I am in total agreement with this. I'm going to look at a Chevy today

I thought there was also talk that they would be giving new owners something like an IOU for the 2nd fob once they became more abundant

That was a big determiner in me buying a pre-covid truck last July. I knew there's was going to be problems

So that looks like a build sheet for an order. No VIN. So is it only for those built in the order system and those of us with a VIN are still getting both Fobs? Not a huge deal if they provide the second one later since I’m the only one who will drive the truck. Just curious what “build sheet” that means.

Bet they give you a second non-electronic key for a spare.

ETA: you should not be able to lock the fob in the truck...but I've never tried as mine stays in my pocket.

This is total BS! So I paid over $75k MSRP for my Limited and I got one FOB?! Has anyone been confirmed that we’ll get an IOU for our second FOB when supplies available?
