Ok, I've had the F150 for 5 weeks now. Issues so far - zero. Mileage - just under 800 miles. Basically so far so good. There are 2 hot topics over on the F150 forums. Deep sleep - battery dead and rust on the rear ends and exhaust.
Batteries going dead is something Ford is aware of and an over the air update is due at any time to help resolve it. My feeling is there is so much going on in the background of these new trucks that if something doesn't shut down properly you're going to have a dead truck in a couple of weeks. That seems to be the time some trucks go dead. Not dissimilar of Corvettes. They eat batteries when just sitting for a couple of weeks. At this point, I'll plug it in to the Battery Tender if I know it'll be sitting for over a week. Did that with my Corvettes I owned. The rust? There are some that have excessive rust. Almost like someone had sprayed something corrosive on the exhaust and rear axles. But now that was brought up, anyone with a little rust on the third member or spring perches is having a cow. I've crawled under every truck I've owned and hit the rear axles with Rustoleum. 15 minutes and it's all pretty.

I haven't even messed with the generator yet. I guess it works.....

Hybrid - I'm actually having fun trying to get it to run on electric. Around town I've gotten up to 25-30% of my trip (it gives you a trip summary every time you turn the truck off) on surface streets. You get zero electric at interstate speeds. I've gone into electric up to 50 mph. It doesn't stay electric for miles and miles. The battery isn't all that big and not a plug in.
It does have a muffled beep when backing up. A few owners are annoyed by it. Backing out of the gsrage, it can be faintly heard in the house. Once out in the drive you can't hear it inside. I did a decibel check and it is about 74db.

I'm sold on the 12" screen layout, navigation, presets and favorites.
The screen split is about 75/25 instead of 50/50 on Ram. Favorites pop up and dominate the 75% screen with the song, artist and station and stays on long enough to react. Presets can scroll either direction and can jump from am/fm and siriusxm. Navigation is similar to Google the way it finds something. I can say navigate to Ace Hardware and it will give me a few locations and I can touch the one I want or just speak the number. It then immediately starts the route with miles and eta.

MPG - I haven't hand calculated. I've had some short couple mile runs that showed less than 2 mpg and tonight coming back from Portillo's (about 5 miles) it showed 24.5mpg - 2 miles electric. The LOM shows 17.5ish since I bought it with mostly city short drives.

Outside rearview mirror placement with the dip in the door glass helps eliminate the blindspot next to the A pillars.

I'm used to the running boards not lowering as far as Ram's and previous F150's. I don't understand the reason.

Cruise control is supposed to be hands free by the fall. Right now it pretty much steers itself but you need to keep a hand on the wheel. It reads speed limit signs to adjust the speed. If you set it at 7 over the limit it'll stay 7 over if the speed limit changes. One thing I don't like is that it slows to a reduced speed limit too fast. I would like it to coast down to the lower speed. It feels like it applies brakes to get down to the lower speed.

Power closing tailgate I like. You can have your hands full and just take your knee and start to lift it and it takes over and closes. You can open and close it using the fob.

Wasted enough of your time. I liked the 2019 Ram and at the time it was cutting edge. Now the F150 has taken over. I'm sure the next gen Ram will again jump to the lead again. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Interesting review; thanks for taking the time. Just too much tech for me and I'm stuck on the Hemi. If my truck was my daily drive, I might be more open to engine options outside of V8.

How would you compare the ride quality of the F-150 to the Ram? I felt like it fell short of my Ram when I test drove the 2021 Platinum. Also, do you have the B&O Unleashed audio? How does in compare to the Ram's H&K? I did like the 12" horizontal screen better on the F-150. While I was not a fan of the engine sound (or fake cabin sound), I did LOVE the torque and HP of the PowerBoost! It was a close call for me but I went with a new Ram because of value and I'm just not a chrome guy. I do wish Ford would offer a Sport, black out, night or some edition for their Platinum and Limited trim levels for those of us who aren't into chrome or brushed aluminum. There is a possibility I'd be waiting on an F150 right now instead of a 2021 Ram if that were an option.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a go with your gut decision. I do have the B&O system but I'm not the guy to ask about its performance. I've got 70 year old ears with tinnitus from being around a lot of very loud engines over the years. It sounds good to me. The Ram system sounded good, too. I can't help you with what's better. As far as engine sounds, I don't care. I've been around twin turbo race cars that when idling around you can barely hear them and then they'll go out and click off an 8 sec quarter. Then there are the ones you can't hold a conversation next to them because they are so loud and they can't come close to the 8's. Noise doesn't impress me, performance does. I wish Ram would put the larger hemi in 1500's
Ride quality.... I've got max tow, not what you want to order for soft ride. The Ram Limited still wins ride quality with air ride. The F150 is decent. The 20" rims and more sidewall helps the F150.
As far as murdering out the trucks. A few guys have done that already.

So what is the power boost? Is it still the eco boost but with a mild hybrid designed in?

My buddy just custom ordered a new f150, but he went with the 5.0

I just drove the a Powerboost a couple weeks ago. I had to scratch that itch. I'm more a Ford person overall. I only drove an XLT and sat in a King Ranch. So not a good comparison to my Laramie. The ride is better in the Ram, but certainly not bad in the Ford. Ram still wins on the interior, but the Ford is not a penalty box. The Ford drives smaller which I do like. My 2015 F150 suffered from that rust issue, but my dealer/ford covered the repair of getting it painted properly. Looked great 5 years later. I'm not ready to make the switch yet, but I would love to get some good MPG. Save all your "Yeah it's a truck...I didn't buy it for MPG, get a Prius....I've heard it all. Shoot me for wanting 20mpg.

Awesome review. I test drove the Powerboost back in November and was very impressed by it. Same with the ride and quality interior.

The new F-150s can be pretty nice, but the value compared to a Ram is a big roadblock for me. Way too expensive to get the features I would want in the newer F-150. I could probably go build a F-150 that I would prefer over my Ram, but the price would probably be well over $10k more.

That they are, but they hold value alot better too.. and no one pays sticker. 😎

Last year my wife got her 2020 F150 XLT Sport SCrew 4x4 with Nav, stickered at $53k for $37k after rebates and dealer discounts.

My 2014 held it's value pretty well. Got 13K less then I paid for it new after 4.5 years and 50,000 miles, I didn't think that was to bad.

That’s an awesome review. I seriously looked at the F150 but in the end the ride of the Limited is fantastic and the interior is, in my opinion nicer in the Laramie than in even the Platinum. I too was hoping that any of the full sized truck would be easily over 20 mpg but had to go with the EcoDiesel for the mileage. Living in Colorado and driving in the mountains and the front range the diesel just made the most sense. Even the F150 with EvoBoost or PowerBoost can’t match the diesel for mileage. The 6cyl gassers just have to downshift too often on the 4-7% grades, especially when loaded. Even loaded with just people and ski gear.
