I agree I have 16 months left on the warranty and time flies quick these covid days. I am not letting any issue go unresolved before my 36 months is up.

Yes, I agree, got the cap off with help of friends, it goes into the Ram dealer Wednesday. It wasn't that hard. I am NOT putting the cap on for a long time until I am 100% sure it's not leaking.

Where are you in NC and what kind of cap is it? My dealer (Leonard) will take my cap on and off for me (I have a Leer) for fairly minimal charge and even store it at their lot if I wanted it off for any reason, like to haul something big. You may want to look into that in your area as it's a handy service to have even if you don't have to do a repair. The other thing I was going to suggest (don't know what kind of cap you have and the setup) is if you can add a removable front cap window, it lets you get a lot of access to the truck by taking it out.

Not that you should have to do any of that, of course, but just a couple of suggestions. Besides, I have a soft spot for yellow boy :)

I have an ARE cap but I called them-- the one in Raeford. The guy said they just got 60 caps in and had no room for storage BUT he said they would come to my house take it off and then come back and put it on for $ 200.00 total. Anyhow I had set this up with friends today and it worked out (we are all seniors 65+ and I wasn't sure how it was going to go). But thanks for the tip and a REAL thanks for the kind words on my best friend DEKE !!!!!

I'm late to the party but figure this is my issue as well. I had the same center tail light leak on my 2011 model and I suspect it is the same on my 2019. I keep a towel under the rear seat and when I pulled it out last week it was wet (and frozen solid), and there is condensation all over the seat rails. My truck sits outside 24/7 and I hardly drive it nowadays, so I'm still under the 3/36. Guess it's time to schedule and appointment for it and the floor mat recall.

What is the dealer/FCA responsibility to me if they have to keep in for days or weeks ? I live alone and have no ride to take me home, the dealer stopped shuttle service because of covid.

loaner car i would think
Nope, when we pay 60,000 + for these trucks that have many issues, we are not guaranteed a loaner vehicle. I was not offered a loaner vehicle until I told ram I was calling my lemon lawyer, the next dealer visit, I had a loaner truck waiting for me!

If this is the dealer where you purchased this truck they should give u a loaner, but nothing states that we get a loaner with our 3/36,000 warranty! If they don’t shame on them, terrible customer service! It’s a tax write off for them anyway. After a year they sell these loaner vehicles on their lot for a high price! Good luck, hope you get a vehicle to drive and your leak fixed!

I didn't know we weren't guaranteed a loaner under the warranty ! I did not get the truck at my local dealer where I take it. I have been in about 12 times for issues under warranty and am tired of sitting there, this issue may take a while to diagnose and fix so I will ask them for one today.

In your situation I would definitely ask for one if they don't offer. For me, if I have to take my truck in for something I have 2 other cars besides the one my wife drives so I'm fine - but if I lived alone and it was my only vehicle I would ask for sure, because they can't fix this in an hour.

Make sure you get one that's big enough to fit yellow boy in there with you ☺️

I'm sure every dealership is different, but most will tell you that a loaner will be provided under the 3/36 ONCE THEY HAVE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND YOUR VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL THE REPAIRS ARE MADE. If they can find the problem within 24 hours and give you the vehicle to drive until parts are in and they suspect the repair will be done in a day, typically there is no loaner offered. But if they have to tear your vehicle apart to find the issue and then validate it's a warranty issue, they will be more than happy to charge FCA (or whatever they are now) for a loaner vehicle on your behalf so they can keep your vehicle for days/weeks.

When they were troubleshooting my brakes, they asked to keep the vehicle for several days and offered me a loaner. But with this window issue, they plan to keep it for just a day to get their leak guy involved, then give me the truck back until they can get the necessary parts in stock and then schedule a second day for the repairs. I don't expect a loaner in this situation, but like others have mentioned I am lucky enough to have a second vehicle I can drive if necessary.

Since you only have one vehicle and no other means of transportation, you may talk to the about keeping your vehicle until they have repaired it in one trip and whether a loaner could be made available. It doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!

Thank for this information I am sitting at the dealer now and they are water testing it as I write this. I have asked them about a loaner and will see what they say.

Well yellowboy has his ride back for now. They found a small crack in the main glass (not the slider). It's in the upper corner by the slider under that black plastic lip that hangs down and you have to get under it and look up to see it. They are ordering a new window. BTW they said it would be an all day job to install and they would have a loaner for me. Thanks for all the help guys. Will update as things develop.

When you say black plastic lip are you referring to the weatherstrip that runs vertically along the roof and meets with the corner of the rear window at the top?

this is how my leak looks:

Yes mine looks exaclty like that one day, and then all along that top strip another. I guess it depends on the level of the vehicle.

Ok good to know you had the same leak. So where exactly was your leak coming from?

I really don't know. I have no frame cracks that everyone is posting about, they tried to tell me there was a small crack in the glass but I can't see it. At least not where they said it was. I think they are just trying to justify the issue to get a new window - which was approved but I have no idea when it will be in.
