I called BBK today. They said 4-5mo out on 5th Gen shorty headers. R&D is completed and now they are setting up production (jigs templates etc).

At this stage, I am going to hold out(most likely) for some BBK's unless I see a sale on some other quality brand that has ceramic coating.

FYI.

what brands do you recommend when shopping for headers? More specifically short tubes. I have a borla ATAK and it sounds great! But i was thinking of short tubes because I don’t need my truck to sound like a big block, lol and could you recommend a website?

Thank you for the Recommendations! I’m probably gonna go with the jba short tubes. They dont look too difficult To install, and I’ll probably get a higher quality gasket

Oem gaskets will do try trick. I wouldn’t say shorties are easy to do. LTs and stock are much easier then shorties

That Dyno chart shows a lot of power losses under the curve; they're only identifying maximum/peak gain at specific RPMS.
Look under the curve the stock ones are putting out more power and torque at many points in the RPM band. I know headers can typically impact your bottom end but that seems substantial.

There may have been a fine print I missed about how the Dyno was done though?

Another point to make is the 5th gen y pipe is not crushed down like 4th gen at y connection. Maybe that’s where shorties may help much more the 4th gens.

I put JBAs on my 4th gen and it provided 1mpg gain in the city, 2mpg highway and almost 1mpg towing averaged over 4 years. Fixed the continual manifold bolts snapping, after the third dealer repair in 2 years, permanently. With the aluminium heads and common collector of the rams manifold design you’ll start seeing this on the 5th gems more and more. Would highly recommend shorties on the 5.7.

Agree, I will be putting a set on at some point. Money, just can’t push the send it button yet.

Should not hurt warranty, definitely help to some level all around. And way epa is starting to push hard. I’m concerned of going to LTs.

It’s possible I’m looking at it wrong too. I’m reading it opposite. I care about low end, to me looks like the shorties hit sooner and more there then stock.
On the other side of that, stock graphs much smoother then shorties. Tuning I’m sure would clean that up. Even possibly stock tune too, with more drive time/learning/adaptation.
the hardest part for me is regardless of anything tune related or companies. I’ve yet to see someone control a zf8speed to 6th gear and do a pull. It’s always 3rd or 4th, half assed.

AFE is also claiming pretty significant gains with their shorty's and no tune (pics below). $784 sounds better than $1,400 to me.
