I bet this would be slightly easier than the precut pieces. Just lay it and then cut with Exacto Knife. I will try this!!

I imagine there’s definitely less precision involved than with the precut ones. I cut the pieces a little larger than the lens then used the heat gun and an ID card to get it to work down on the angled portions. Once it cooled I trimmed it to fit with a razor then hit it with the heat again to make sure it was all laid down with no bubbles.

Upgraded interior lights with LED and finally got the husky mud guards on. The slush this thing throws down the side of the truck without the guards was crazy. My white truck looked light brown.

Also gave it a pressure wash even thought it was below 32 degrees I just had too haha.

Just finished doing a full paint correction. When I took delivery of the truck a couple months back, I clayed the entire truck. The roof and hood sounded like sandpaper with the clay and it left minor swirls. I've been wanting to do this and I finally completed it. I wish I had some ceramic coating for it today, but that will have to be another day.

I was watching a video where they took some of the ceramic coating and poured it onto a flexible surface. After it dried, they were able to bend the base and separate the ceramic coating from it. It looks like a thin layer of glass.

In Florida, that extra layer will help protect the paint and clear coat from the morning dew or an afternoon rain shower. When the southern sun hits the water, it burns the clear underneath. I can either ceramic coat the truck or put some PPF on the hood and roof. I'm looking at both options. The cost of the PPF in a sheet wide enough and long enough for the roof is more than double the cost of the ceramic product that will protect the entire truck.

Below is a typical car that doesn't get garaged.

Ceramic is very hard and will protect from minor scratches. It also not as porous as clear coat, so dirtm bugs and sap can't stick to it as easily.

Exactly what it is. A layer of protective glass. Definitely worth the investment. I’m gearing up to do a graphene coating on mine before summer hits.

That all depends who you ask! Some feel it’s a gimmick, some think it belongs only on luxury high end cars, and others swear by it. I personally love ceramic coatings, however I am not going to fork out $1500-2000 for the professional grade stuff. I enjoy doing paint correction and ceramic coating enough to do it myself every 3 to 5 years. For me it does make it easier to clean the truck and the added protection against swirls has helped.

What would it cost for a professional to do? Unfortunately, my 2 car garage is taken by my wife and some of my toys. Truck stays in driveway. I have a hardwood tree in yard that deposits tiny, tiny specks of sap. I usually clay bar once a year.

Really depends on condition of the paint, location you live, and the ceramic they apply. I’d expect $1500 average for a newer truck. I’ve only price checked near me in Seattle so it might be more/less expensive in other areas.

I’m in the Charlotte, NC area and the price ranges from $1000-$2500 for Ceramic Pro. It varies based on number of base coats and top coats they do (each has a corresponding warranty in terms of years coverage).

I’m getting ready to have my 2021 1500 Limited Night Edition done in 2 weeks. Will cost me $2300 for the lifetime package (paint correction, detail). They’ll have my truck for a full week to get it done.

I’m also adding some matte black racing/rally stripes on the front bumpers, hood, roof and rear tailgate/bumpers as well. That is in addition to the ceramic coating.

Once the main job is done I only need to bring it back every 18-24 mos for them to inspect and recoat the top coats. That’s about $150.

For the look, ease of keeping it clean, and the additional protection it adds was definitely worth it for me.
