104mph limit

That is pretty much the case on all vehicles since the 1980's. The speedometer almost always goes higher then what the limiters allow.

As someone who had a 1992 Cutlass with a digital speedo that went to 199.. and an engine with 120hp... I can attest to this

My 72 AMX (headers, Holley, Eldebrock, cam, 727 Flight tork and posi) topped around 120 and some change, my Rebel has way better brakes

The brakes are fine! This with a RTT and 400 pounds of gear on the bed.
The tires become an issue.

This truck is too heavy for these brakes to handle more than 1 or 2 100mph stops.
There's no cooling for the brakes, a truck this size would heat these rotors and glaze them with 1 or 2 100 mph stops leaving the rotors heat glazed blue or full of stress cracks or both.
Anyone thing this truck is suitable for 100 mph blasts hasn't been 100 mph very often.
Get into a panic situation at 100+ mph in a vehicle this size with these brakes and you're in trouble.

Not rated for Nürburgring for sure. But just fine for us lemming following each other on I-95 at illegal speeds. I can attest that those pads bite hard when asked for.

My bad, thought this thread was about 100+ mph. Yes, at legal speeds, brakes are great.

Only in the USA, same vehicle in a different country... Germany(for example) can actually bury the speedometer. Found a old Ford Escort like 10 years ago that came from the German market...no limiter. Same with VW, Chevy. It's only here where they require limiters...smh. my boss has a new Porsche...limited to 150mph...but speedometer goes to 180mph.

Agree, the brakes are fine, tires are the issue. Not just speed rating but condition of the tires. If you want to loose your license in America, do it safely in a foreign based vehicle, even similar weight such as a Land Rover. They will happily cruise at 125+ and feel safe doing so. No intention of taking my Ram that high, it’s a pickup truck after all and not designed for that.

It's amazing how stable this truck is at 100. Going that fast in trucks from yesteryear is a white knuckle experience

OEM speed limiters are due to tires, not the fact that they are US vehicles. My Z06 has no speed limiter, Vipers, Mustangs and Camaros also don't have limiters

Not sure about the rest but Mustangs are speed limited. 155 for the GT. Not sure about the ecoboost.

Ive 60-160 raced some "stock" GT's, they didn't stop at 155. Must be specific to a trim level

Serious question now.

Buying a 2019 Ram soon. What is the REAL difference between the Longhorn and the Limited. So far all I see is interior materials and badging.

Preference.

Longhorn has options such as interior and exterior colors/trims not available to the limited.

I personally looked at both and went with a Limited due to the fact that once you start optioning out a longhorn it peaks past the price point of a Limited.

So at the end of the day it's truly of what you want and how much you're willing to pay for said want.

Underneath they are all the same, unless you opt for air suspension. Limiteds are nice inside, but the payload is low, usually 900 to 1200 pounds, barely enough to carry 4 fat guys

Quick and fast are two different things. I have no desire to be in a truck over 100MPH. In a car sitting lower to the ground.... thats another story. Getting to 70 quickly is fun and this truck can do so pretty well. I don't really want to have a conversation with a cop that revolves around me spending time in the the poke because I was an idiot! Had plenty of people I know do that!
I use my truck as general transportation and hauling what I need to haul for work and play.

Not many 'stock' Mustangs are going to race to 160....so doubt they had anything less than a tune which would have removed the limiter.
