I have RAM1500 2019 5.7h Canadian standard and I found that the coolant temperature reach 226F (108c) then the fan operate at high speed to cool the engine!!
i was owned the classic 2018 with same 5.7h engine model with mechanical fan that keeps the coolant temperature at 205f most the time!!
Same engine with more than 25F difference in coolant temperature??

while using AirConitioner fan is working and the temperature is 205F, now in winter it is not working until reaching 226F.

I appreciate if any one own the same model can confirm what is the temperature reading on his car , and I deeply appreciate if an expert can help me.

regards

Seen it up to 230 then down to 197, Active grille shutters open and fans come on to cool it down.

On the highway, it stays at 208 pretty constant.

very close to my case , im wondering why the classic model with SAME engine operating at 205F ?? and for new generation with electrical fans it reachs 226F until fan operate ? it should be the same engine and they should program the fans to keep the temperature up to 205F just like classic model . 226F is more than any competitive car temperature.

I basically just jumped in and left for work. I'll sit and let it idle and see when it kicks on.

Newer engine do operate at higher temps for the best fuel efficiency, the Classis still works on the last generation setup. 230F is the extreme of normal operation without towing. It can easily hit 245F before you would get a warning on your dash, which can happen when towing heavy for an extended period.

Mine operates at 209 - 230 depending on what I'm doing in normal operating. There are several threads that cover this, these temps are well documented on the 5th gen Hemis. Your truck should be operating most commonly around 215 - 225 or so, but under certain situations like stop and go, it will hit 230F in normal operation.

thanks a lot , yes it is running as you described , we live in hot climate so the first criteria of our car selection is he hot weather behaviour , i was reading for alternative companies like Ford GMC and SHEVY and they operate there engines in lower temperature , the 5.7H engine is also used in many cars like charger and it is running in lower temperature , only with 5th Gen RAM1500 it reach 230F , this is why i found it wear .
thank you for your answer .

I am in SoCal and drive in the desert and I have taken out a gallon of the radiator mixture and put in some water wetter and it keeps temps cooler.

I ran this in my motorcycles as well for when you are stopped at a light and you are straddling an engine it gets very hot. Liquid chill

Just a note, my F150 2.7L would run similar temperatures. My E90 BMW has several cooling programs depending on situation, but it's Eco mode programming is 230F. You can't tell unless you have an OBD reader on certain vehicles because the coolant gauge is practically a "dummy" gauge, which only moves with big temp changes. For example, 210F - 230F on my Bimmer would not show any movement on the coolant gauge.

While I don’t have the hemi I get similar temps while towing with my ecodiesel. 105C (221F) coolant and 108C (226F) oil temp is the highest I’ve seen. Not towing my temps are around 97-98C oil and coolant. The transmission takes a lot longer to warm up and I have never seen it over 100C.

Idled to 208 with no fan. Stat opened i guess, dropped to 201 no fan. Climbed back to 222 and fan kicked on.
very close to my case , seems it is normal from the company to operate the fan at 222-226F , thank you a lot for your assistant i appreciate that . Best Regards

If you don't like that number, you can always changed to lower temp. thermostat, easy task.

I use to do that on my old C/K 1500 sport truck, everyone back then installed lower temp thermostat. However, after speaking with an drivetrain engineer, you shouldn't on these modern vehicles. He said these engines are optimized at those higher temps, many also have variable temp programming depending on what the vehicle is doing such as stop & go city vs highway to optimize economy and performance.

The mechanical thermostat control only the low temperature, so it has nothing with the maximum temperature
