What are you showing me here?
his is the max coolant temperature for classic RAM1500 2019 5.7L, 96-98 Celsius only !! While for same engine usen in 5th generation it is 10 degrees more and reach to 108 Celsius until the fan kicks on .

Oh gotcha. Same engine, but probably different tuning and emissions requirements, hence the higher temps. The days of 190F thermostats being the norm is gone.

I definitely have a problem. I'm thinking relay. Fan comes on at 228/230 and doesn't go off until I shut the ignition off. Yesterday she spiked to 235, today to 241.

Thermostat?

No leaks. Coolant overflow is at recommended level.

Ayyy

Either way she's going to the dealer tomorrow.

Well that explains everything. Didn't even make it to the appointment this morning.

Started her up and noticed she was leaking coolant. Looks like lower inlet of water pump by the hose connection.

Ugghh. Just gonna tow it to the dealer. 😑

The mechanical thermostat control only the low temperature, so it has nothing with the maximum temperature

t
Wrong. The t-stat rating is when it is supposed to start opening. If the t-stat is sticking, you will not be getting proper circulation and the temps will run above whatever is considered normal.

Phooey! Mopar coolant is Prestone with blue food coloring.. I always flush out the OEM swill for my 100% concentrated coolant, no mix, straight coolant. Never! zero, issues. I was looking for an extra set of hoses, (just in case) OMG! cant find any other than MOPAR, have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for it.

Using straight coolant without diluting is a horrible idea - I hope you are kidding.

You are quite the exaggerator! the Mopar PURPLE coolant isn't really any more expensive than any other. I'll spot you a loan.

Pre-Diluted Anti-Freeze Coolant Mopar Part #: 68163849AB $16.99
68163848AB Concentrate $23.95

And like another user said, I sure hope you are not serious when you say you are using this concentrated in your truck.

I have RAM1500 2019 5.7h Canadian standard and I found that the coolant temperature reach 226F (108c) then the fan operate at high speed to cool the engine!!
i was owned the classic 2018 with same 5.7h engine model with mechanical fan that keeps the coolant temperature at 205f most the time!!
Same engine with more than 25F difference in coolant temperature??

while using AirConitioner fan is working and the temperature is 205F, now in winter it is not working until reaching 226F.

I appreciate if any one own the same model can confirm what is the temperature reading on his car , and I deeply appreciate if an expert can help me.

regards
So, 4 years after this post did these numbers start consistent? Ever run into any cooling system issues?

Pretty consistent, newer DT gen trucks run higher temp thermostats and ECU tuning.

Hey guyz, ive read the whole thread and comments. Ive come here coz im getting the same temperatures on my 5th gen 1500. I thought it was very high as well but now i see that its considered as normal in 5th gens. My fan kicks in at 107-108C, brings it down to 99-101C and does the same thing over and over when idling. But while doing this i get an engine check light, ive checked it with my OBD, and the code is P1D73 “AGS(active grill shutter) performance”. This started after ive recently hit the deer on highway and replaced the front bumper with lower radiator support, grille and grille shutter. I have installed the aftermarket grille shutter, which i bought without the actuator, as my actuator survived and didnt have any damage so i have used it with the aftermarket grille shutter. When the check light started to pop up i have erased it couple times, then I tried to unplug the actuator and plug it back, erase the code, reset the actuator with OBD take the active test of the shutter and so on. Didnt help, same was happening, although the shutter seems to be working, it opens and shuts, while even idling it was open and check light still came up. Today ive got another actuator locally from used car guy, installed it and when the temp reached 109C and went down after fan kicked in ove got the same check light again. I dont think its anything wrong with the grille shutter and i did change thermostat like a month ago so its new and its mopar OEM. I just changed it for no reason when i replaced my starter as well and it was working properly with no codes before i hit the deer. Its driving me crazy, and if theres anyone can help me with this I really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Please see the attached pictures. Id also wanna hear if it might be related CAN C BUS. Coz sometimes very rarely i get the parktronic code and it says can c bus is off performance. Ill attach the pic of it as well which ive seen today.

I have a Rebel with no shutters, but I can tell you your temps seem pretty normal.

Could your aftermarket shutters somehow not be sending the right signals and causing the occasionally codes?

Can be. I thought about it, but its just a piece of plastic with no brain, other than actuator itself moving it. I would be surprised if it turned out right.

It's got to be a sensor of some sort. The engine light would not go on at those temps, you will get a high coolant temp warning at around 245F (118C) and oil temp warning at 290F (143C).

What did the code say for the check engine light that went off recently?

Did you do anything with your active air dam behind the bumper. From what I've seen posted here before. Most of the time an AGS code is kre than likely caused by a bad active air dam, since they both use the same can bus
