Thank you. They just got back to me. They are going to order a new fuel tank. Should be in in about 2 weeks. We'll see how it goes.
Mine was the tank fill tube, between the tank and the fuel door. More accurately I think it was the vent off that tube. I could only fill at slowest possible speed. If I just squeezed the handle I would get .02gal (instant shut off). This was at every pump. New tube fixed it

I just picked up a 2020 rebel and my first full up took me 20 min. I know I ha e had issues with other trucks doing this and it almost always turns out to be the filler tube vent line has a blockage, it is cold here so in the garage for the night and I guess we will see if the problem goes away.

Make sure you tell the service department you tried multiple pumps/ stations/ handle positions otherwise they will waste an hour of your time proving to you that you are correct, it won't take the go juice.

So just an update, put my truck in my heated shop overnight and next morning went to fill up and had absolutely no issues. I am guessing the filler vent line must have had an ice up/blockage. I have filed up twice since and all is good. Totally enjoy this first Ram truck.

Very strange but glad the issue is gone. Did you use the same gas station/pump as before? I literally thought something was wrong with mine too a few weeks ago until I tried a different station..

I have used several different fuel stations and most of them are good, I do have one that seems to be a little finicky when filling up but I do get a full tank now without any real issues.

I have the slow fill problem also. I noticed it on a road trip recently and as I have a 33 gal tank I don't fill it up as often. Yesterday I stopped to get gas and it kept shutting off every few seconds. I had to hold the nozzle in a certain position and gently pull the handle in order to fill the tank. It took a long time but I finally got it filled. I sent a text message to my SA at the dealer and told him what was happening. He said if it happens again to call and setup an appointment to have to looked at. So it will be about a month or more before I get gas again which is fine because I can wait until January to take it in. If they do anything to fix it, fill tube, gas tank etc. I will post it here.

2020 Ram here, just turned 1200 miles and a nice road trip to break her in...comparing it to my 2018, I can't fill up more than 22 gallons when almost all the way empty. Took me some slow filling today to get to the 394 mils to empty mark. I did a lot of highway driving, so I was hoping the computer would "report close to the 420+ range". As my 2018 would be giving me those numbers in a similar road trip scenario.

As some people reported, once filled up all the way, my 2018 would take quite a bit of driving before the fuel needle would start going down. This one starts showing gas usage almost instantly on the gas gauge. Makes me believe there is something in the gas tank system that does not allow it to be fully filled up. 22 mpg is my advertised highway mpg (on the window sticker w e torque, and I'm sure this is @55mph factory testing "going downhill", no head wind, not load on the truck and probably 4x2) and a 26 gal tank should yield close to 500 miles. I can't even break the 400 mile mark! She will probably start turning better mpg soon, as the ride is phenomenal, quite an improvement over the gen 4, and that one was great! So far I love the truck and the way it handles. I got a bunch of compliments from my Ford die hard buddy after he took her for a spin...

Figured I had the slow fill problem figured out as a iced vent line, turns out it really depends on where I fuel up at and you definitely have to jam the filler nozzle in as far as it will go. The mpg calculator is very strange as well, I have definitely noticed the gauge comes off full almost immediately as compared to any other truck I have had you could go 60-80km before it would move. I sure hope the economy gets somewhat better once it’s past the break in but I seriously doubt it. I am putting a tonneau cover on and change the exhaust to a more free flowing muffler and hope that makes some change. Next I guess a programmer perhaps? Not sure. I drive an even mix of highway/gravel and I definitely keep my foot out of it and I’m lucky to average 16L/100km so just under 15mpg. Not horrible for a truck.

Costco seems to be the worst for this. My truck had that problem at every Costco pump and randomly at other stations.

I took it in to the dealership thinking that I might have the tank vent issue. They ended up just replacing the filler neck and the problem went away.

I don't know when the 'new' design came out but it was sometime after my December 2018 build.
Turns out my problem didn't completely go away. Even after the new filler neck the nozzle would shut off a few gallons before full.

Turns out is was a combination of the neck and tank for me.

Replacing the filler neck with a new design solved the issue where the nozzle would shut off after a few seconds unless I slowly started to fill then worked up to full flow.

Replacing the tank (rollover vent valve) solved the issue where the nozzle would shut off a few gallons before the tank was full.

It took several visits to get it fixed but now I can fill up at any pump without issue.

Same boat here as well. 2019 Ram with 30K on it when I bought it. Constantly fighting the impossible fuel fill. My local dealer is great thankfully. They ended up installing the updated filler neck and a new fuel tank. So far so good.

I never did take mine in as I found a simple workaround. Insert gas nozzle and twist it to the left so the nozzle tip is at the 2 o'clock position. This has worked for me every time on every pump and all the gas stations, including Costco.

Sooo I just started having this issue on my 2019 Laramie and the dealer quoted me $1200 for a new fuel cell since I am over the mileage on the 36/36 warranty. This was a dream truck to buy and I am really starting to question my decision to purchase one. I love the truck, but dang, this seems like a common problem and I get bent over??

Try my 2 0'clock nozzle position as I stated above your post. It still works great for me and I have been to gas stations in 8 different states.

I'm having this exact same issue... My truck has been at the dealership since last Wednesday and I received it today. Turns out, they replaced the fuel pump.... THE FUEL PUMP... How stupid can you be to assume the issue is fuel pump related? Anyway.. It didn't fix the issue so I have to go back... Seems to only happen when it's cold out. Also, I only go to Shell, is anyone else with this issue only refueling at Shell?

I started with this as well….after watching the gallon count in the pump, I know there is no way it’s all the way full. I end up doing ”top off” pumping and try and listen to see when it gets to the Top of the filler neck. Plus the DTE seems to be 50 miles shy of what it always has been calculated at.

Wawa, Costco, Weis, doesnt matter all seem to do the same. Costco seems to be the worst, so I have stayed away from there. I may have them address it when it goes in for inspection.
