Mopar 2" Lift vs 5100 Adjustable Ride Height

I don't see any comparison threads on here and wanted to get some opinions between both setups.

I have been gearing up to purchase the Mopar 2" and ORP front springs. Anyhow I have been in contact with a shop to order the Borla S-Type and asked if they install lift kits. He mentioned they don't install them but they do the 5100 Bilstein.

I haven't really been looking into the Bilstein setup. Anyone have anything to say about this setup vs the Mopar?

I would think the lift kit would be better than just adjustable strut/shock. Who knows.

Anyhow what I want is to get the truck sitting higher so would both lift the same height or is mopar higher and more worth the cost?

Thanks

So I was just quoted $1130cdn ($830usd) to have the Bilstein installed. $600 for just the parts (Canadian)

The Mopar 2" kit will cost me $1900 (eBay seller raised price which would have been $1600) and then the install on top of that.

Is it worth an additional $1300 in parts (or $1000 if the eBay price goes back down) to go with the Mopar. Now keep in mind, the Ebay prices included the shipping and taxes. The parts themselves are about $1600 (without the lower price). So then it would be $1000 more for the parts alone then shipping.

From the looks of it, the Mopar Fox shocks seems to work the same way as the Bilstein with the adjustable height on the struts I think. What the Bilstein doesn't give you is the rear spacers, brackets for "bump stops" and also trackbar. Plus it also gives you the UCAs.

Is the Mopar kit worth the extra money, I am only driving on the road 99% of the time.

Will the Mopar kit achieve more lift then the Bilstein 5100s?

Depends on the look you want...the $600 for the bilstein is that just the front or rear as well?

So, I’m currently waiting (over a month) on my bilsteins after what I thought was a lot of research. I debated between the bilsteins and mopar and only went with bilsteins because it was budget friendly. (Front and rear shocks for $550 parts plus mopar UCAs to be safe $85). I recommend getting the rears because a lot of people complained about the front feeling controlled and the rear bouncing all over the place. But it depends on what you want. If you want an overall lift, keeping the front rake, that’s what the mopar kit does. Most people use the adjustable bilsteins to level the truck out but you do have the option to raise it higher. Going higher than the 2 inch level (2.6 max), you would also need UCA’s and something for the rear if you don’t want the truck nose high. The mopar fox shocks arent adjustable and are 2 inch extension from stock. The rear uses spacers for the lift so if you wanted just a level with the mopar kit, I imagine you could just skip the rear spacers... but don’t quote me on it because I don’t know how that reacts with the springs. I really wanted to find something on bilstein vs fox ride quality but I never could find it.

Let me throw something else at you… Falcon shocks by TeraFlex. Do those with off-road springs front and rear. Had 5100s on my last truck and they were nice but I have the ability to do whatever I want For my new truck next spring yet this is my final go to choice even over Bds fox 2.5 reservoir and icon stage three.

This will be a better product than the fox shocks with the Mopar kit and you will have the ability to reduce squat while towing by increasing the dampening rate

Good question, I’ll need to ask.

well after some web searching on prices. The Mopar kit may be cheaper.

The Mopar kit is on eBay for $1600 Canadian. The ORP springs, I haven‘t contacted the dealer or online for prices but I assume roughly $200 Canadian. So $1800 roughly for the Mopar kit and I should get 3” of lift at the front right?

If I go with the Readylift SST kit, the cost is $1200 Canadian. The price on the Bilstiens is $600 (not sure if that is front or front/back) so this also would put me at $1800. I don’t think I would need the ORP springs but would I need anything else, like rear spacer? This would get me 3.5” I think, is this correct?

Looks like the Mopar might be cheaper or the same, comes with warranty and it an all in one kit where I don’t have to shop at multiple places for parts to piece together a lift.

I want a decent lift for my money. The SST sounds Tempting because I get a little higher lift. I don’t think I would want the Readylift SST without the Bilsteins because I hear it rides rough and I want to keep my stock ride or better.

If I go with just the Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Ride Heigh kit, then it would be $600 (I will find out if that is front or all around) but I think this will only get 2” of lift correct? Then you add UCA which I see some people recommend and rear spacers. So this would probably end up being over $1000.

Lots of choices out there....decide how much lift you want and go from there. I just leveled my front end using bilstein shocks which cost me $340 and I upgraded to the mopar uca at $130 for the pair. Install labor charge came to $440 which included alignment. So $910 Canadian labor and taxes all in. Rear end is stock set up and works for me.

I would just go with the lift....the idea of adjustable is really nice but nowhere Close to being as reliable in the long term.

Mopar parts Canada

Do you happen to have a picture of what it looks like?

I'm afraid if I do the Bilstein's it will not be enough for me. I love having a truck that is higher than normal, but I don't nee another monster road truck like my last one. At one point I was debating the BDS 4" or 6" but I don't need that type of height.

From the pictures the Mopar one with the ORP springs looks like a nice amount of lift. I've seen one in person.

Now, after doing some reading I have read about people the Readylift 3.5 SST (comes with upper UCA) and the Bilstein 5100 shocks up front. May or may not get a little higher than the Mopar lift. But front the prices I am seeing, to do this combo it will end up costing me more than the Mopar lift.

I believe non-orp truck with Bilsteins can get 2.6" of lift, which I assume will be close to the Mopar with ORP gets... Then you need I believe a 1" or 1.5" spacer in the rear.

Too many choices lol...

All I know is I will be owning this truck for many years, therefore I want something that it will last. My truck is a pavement pounder, so I don't need anything crazy.

So why is the Readylift 3.5 consider a leveling kit and Mopar is considered a lift?
The Mopar kit is an actual suspension lift as to where the SST is basically a big top hat spacer with UCA (a level kit). The factory shocks really are not very good. You get fox 2.0 that are specifically tuned to the new ram 1500 with the Mopar kit. Also the rear track bar has a bracket that will raise it to go with the longer fox shocks and 2 inch rear spring spacers. It will ride much better then the ready lift. The Mopar kit also comes with front upper control arms

So why is the Readylift 3.5 consider a leveling kit and Mopar is considered a lift?

Riding stock, the rear is 2 inches higher than the front = a downward rake. Lifts will add the same height to the front and the rear, keeping the rake, which is what mopar does (2in to front and rear). A leveling kit will add a greater height to the front than to the rear to make the truck level. I don’t know what readylift 3.5 does but common sense says it adds 3.5 inches to the front and 2 (maybe 1.5) inches to the rear to give it a leveled look.

No offense zoompastu, but suspension vs spacer doesn’t have anything to do with lift vs level.

I have the Mopar kit and instead of adding the ORP springs to the front, I added a 1/2 top hat spacer ($25 on Amazon).

The ride with stock wheels/tires was as good if not better than stock, especially on the bumpy country road I live on. Now that I've added bigger A/T tires (Ridge Grapplers) the ride has stiffened up quite a bit, but that is due to the tires, not the lift.

I haven't second guessed my purchase of the lift once. It's a Mopar backed product, and under warranty. That alone gives me peace of mind.

I'll chime in on the Mopar lift....I did it with the front orp springs and it got the truck close to 3 1/2" in the front and 2" in the rear. So I ended up with around 1/2"- 3/4" of rake, which is fine with me. The E rated tires do feel (are) stiffer than stock, and the suspension itself is fine over bumps etc. The biggest thing I notice now is the rear sway when switching lanes at highway speeds or around off/on ramps, it is very noticeable from stock. Traction control sometimes kicks in for just a brief moment, this could be from the new tires having a bit of slickness or the before mentioned sway. So I will be adding the Hellwig swaybar very soon. Also lost 1-2 mpg, but that is to be expected. Overall really satisfied with the look and ride over stock. Hope this helps :)

Not offended but your information is also not accurate. I do understand your point though. Level kits do not raise the rear. They use a top hat spacer to level the front in relation to the rear. You can replace the front shocks that have an adjustable spring perch and achieve the same level.

A suspension lift can and usually does level the front in relation to the rear while lifting both the front and the rear. As an example look at the BDS 6 inch lift. It does not lift the rear 6 inches and the front 6 inches. It does however lift the front up and the rear up to gain a total increase of 6 inches front and is at a level stance. My last ram the front was lifted 3 inches in the rear was lifted 1 inch and it was level. A 3”/1” lift is also very popular on the tundras.

The Mopar lift kit was engineered with a rake and consumers complained about that. Mopar revised the lift kit to add an additional spacer to level the front in relation to the rear while lifting the front and the rear.
