Auto Stop Start Issues

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited with 8700 miles and was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue. For background info I live in western PA and its about 20 degrees when my issue is occurred.

This has happened to me 3 times this year: When I stop the auto stop kicks in as normal. When I release the brake pedal it shifts into park and requires me to press the brake pedal and start the car, and place it in drive. That shouldnt happen at all! Normally I let my foot off and it should restart...
Maybe the truck is in the auto stop mode for too long and thinks it need a full restart... Any ideas? I have an appointment with the dealer next tuesday 3/3/2020. Today this happened to me while at a stop sign and totally freaked me out because I had to merge onto a highway and go through this unexpected dance of getting my truck turned on. This is extremely unsafe and makes me want to get rid of the truck completely.

Thanks,

Hi xtonytoughx,

If it would be of interest, we would be more than happy to connect you with a specialist for an additional layer of support as you address this with your dealer. This will provide the dealership and yourself with an individual who will review your concern, then assist you and the dealership in exhausting all available resources to have the concern addressed and resolved. Please follow up via private message to get the process started!

Well I finally purchased my dream truck and love the truck very much. I am having one issue however and I’m not sure it’s normal. When I stop at a light the auto stop turns off the truck, however it restarts again in 30 seconds or so without me lifting my foot off the brake. Anyone else experiencing this. Truck only has 300 miles on it

This is normal from what I've read. There could be a few reasons for the truck to restart itself, such as maintaining cabin temperature. If the engine is off the AC and heater aren't operating, just the blower is. It may also restart to keep the battery charged. I haven't seen this with my truck, but I don't normally stop for long enough to have experienced this. But I also haven't had this truck during the hot summer months either. I drove a rental car in Europe last summer, and saw it happen with that car.

Totally normal. Mine does this when it's really cold outside and the truck needs to maintain the cabin temperature.
