I use a magnet mount, placed down inside the center console, with a short cord for Car Play. I get in, plug the phone in, and pop it on the mount. It is nice and out of the way but still accessible if needed though most everything comes across CarPlay .

I also have a ProClip and the 12" screen. I'm using the one that mounts on the left side of the air vent that's on the left side of the screen. No issues with any damage to the dash or leather. Perfect location as I can view what's on the phone and still keep my eyes on the road. Highly recommend it.
Any pictures of this set up

I use a magnet mount phone holder that uses the cd player. Slide it in the CD Slot, tighten it, set the magnet mount angle. All good. Clear of the lower buttons and the 12 inch screen. Does cover the electronic brake manual overide slider.

I have used the Steel ball mount (magnet) on back of phone on my last few vehicles. Can’t figure out a place to put it w this 12” display without phone rubbing on something at bottom
Just ordered pro clip mount mentioned above and will mount my steel ball to it to hang phone on. Used proclip on several company cars in the past. Very solid
Thanks for info mentioned in earlier post

Please post a pic of this setup when you do it. I installed the proclip mount and the adjustable slide in phone holder for it. While it fits the phone great, I’m not completely happy with the angle the swivel allows. I want it a bit more canted toward me but when I do it tilts it slightly back too. Was thinking of trying to fab a wedge between the two pieces but would rather not have to. Should be perfect for the cost

Will do, just got in from W Texas. I have been using the Steelie mounts for the last few years and have bought them for the family. The pro clips are great mounts and have used them in the past, but did not want to go with - you said, the other hard mount, this will allow it to swivel towards you at different angles..

I put the steel ball on the upper left hand corner and it keeps the phone out of the a/c path. I am satisfied with it as I can angle it towards me so I can see screen better if something pops up. This is the steelie by "Nite Ize". I have used several of them and gave them to each of the family last year as stocking stuffers.. LOL, buy the dash mount style which gives you the magnet to put on phone and the ball to mount to this. With the magnet on the phone I can stick it to the side of the duck blind or what ever else i am around and it will stick to the wall
The pro clip is very sturdy after installing it in that position. I'm almost tempted to add one to the other side for my company phone, but i think I will skip that move

Curious, for those using the ProClip, how are you running your usb cable for carplay. Let it hang, able to snug the cable in the dash lines or running inside the dash and back out somewhere.

Pics would be helpful. I have my proclip enroute.

Thank you

Proclip installed using the left a/c vent mount. Recycled the iPhone cradle with power and data cable from a previous vehicle. I popped the radio bezel away to run the wire behind it and it comes out near the media hub. The cell phone holder in the console has a little lip to tuck the extra wire up out of the way inside a crease. I’m very happy with how it turned out. When I put iPhone in the cradle it connects to truck and starts charging immediately.

I am going to do something like this, but with the pop socket mount. Yeah, yeah, I have a pop socket.

ProClip is the only way to go. Forget about the vent mounts, never stay in one position. Also forget about the cup holder ones, you have to take your eyes completely off the road or the big bulky ones that block your vision (We already have enough blockage between the A pillar and if you have Vent Visors)! ProClip mounts up high enough that you can keep your eyes on the road while using it for GPS, or to see who is calling. Have used them in my past 3 trucks & don't mind paying a little extra for a damn good product.

I use my console .. it is what it was designed for .. do you not have the holder built in?

So you have the ram charger, which I don’t have, so maybe you haven’t even thought about this...have you ever attempted or seen anything that mounts the plug for the phone In the opening in the bottom of the slot for the phone? It would be great to just be able to slid the phone into the holder and have it be plugged in at the same time.

They are on the market, I don’t recall right off hand who makes them but they are available. ProClip comes to mind but I’m not sure.

When someone else goes into my rig, they just plug their USB into their cell and it goes into the opening and up to the USB charging port.

There was another thread on here from a user who was trying to design a quick port like what you may have describing. I have USBs Charging Cables that use magnets for my passengers. I used his design and suggested he grab a set of those cables and it would do what he wanted. Drop Cell into the slot and it started charging. Pull the cell out to exit the vehicle, and it brakes connection (since it is magnetic).
