Tire size for 3.5” ready lift

Tire size is a very personal choice. If you like a stuffed look, go with 35s. If you want to be more conservative, I’d stay around the 34.5” area. I have an off road package truck that’s been leveled so basically a 3” lift when compared to a non-off road truck and I am running 34.1” tires that I think look perfect.
Also consider your width, if you want to maintain your current drive feel, you may want to stay with a similar width. If you don’t mind, the sky is the limit....as long as you don’t rub that is.

I have no idea what offset the factory 22" wheels are. Will a 35x12.50x22 fit without rubbing? What is the next size down? I know there are online calculators to convert the metric tire sizes to actual dimensions but I am not sure what sizes are even common and available in the 22".
My factory tires are 285/45/22 which translates into a 32.1" x 11.2". A 34.5" or so in the similar 11.5" width would be fine I think . Then again a 35x12.50 is only 1.5" larger radius than what I have stock and 1" wider. Seems like it would fit with a 3.5" lift but I don't know. My last truck was a Chevrolet 1500 Z71 with a 6" lift and it barely cleared 35x12.50 tires and would rub at sharp turns.

I'm in the same boat with wanting to keep my factory 22" wheels. The size I've been considering is 285/55 22. That gives you about a 34.25" tire with the factory width. There's no doubt that a larger tire will impact power and MPG but that can be mitigated, slightly, with keeping a smaller contact patch. This is why I'm trying to stay close to the 11.22" width of the factory tires. Plus, I'm not a fan of the tire sticking way out of the side of the truck look. I'm no tire/wheel expert this is just my line of thinking. Keep in mind also that different tire manufacturers may claim a specific tire size, but what you really get may be +/- an inch to an inch and a half. You could have three different tire brands all claiming to be 35" tires and them all be different actual sizes.
The problem is selection and price for 22" tire size. There aren't as many options for a 22" vs. a 18" or 20". A good set (I've had good results with Nitto Terra Grappler G2) cost about $400 each.
The other size I'm considering is the 325/50 22. This tire will be about 34.8" and 13" wide. This will give you just a little more width and probably look really nice as well. Just expect to spend 50ish dollars more per tire.

Stock offset is 19.05 regardless of diameter. Check around the forum and see if anyone else has gotten away with 35s on stock rims with that lift height. I might be worried about rubbing when fully turned....not sure.
Hey guys I found this today on you tube. This guy is running 35x12.50’s with no lift on stock 22” wheels. He does have the air ride though.
I think I will go with the 35’s they should be no problem with the 3.5” lift.

Unless you want a large gap between your tire and fenders I'd suggest 34 or 35. The 3.5in kit lifts the front of the truck quite a bit. I did 2.5in level in the front and 35s.. 3.5in, anything less is going to look off.
From past experience- the new 11.5in wide tires available out there these days do 2 things.. Avoid rub issues, and lessen the mpg loss. I've done the 12.5 a bunch of times, love the look.. Eats the gas.. That only started to bother me when my commute miles wise jumped up. Now all I buy are the 11.5in wide..
Like others said.. everyone has a look they like.. that's what makes modding vehicles enjoyable.
