I just picked up my new 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie from the dealer last week. After a few months of looking, I was able to locate the one I wanted and had a local dealer transfer it in for me to buy. I wanted the advanced safety group and apparently that’s not a common option in the Laramie trim. It came pretty well equipped with the sunroof, bed utility group, and 12” Uconnect.
I traded in a 2016 Silverado LT that I thoroughly enjoyed, but it was pretty lacking on options. I bought it when I had a 5 minute commute and cared more about having a truck than having a daily driver. Now that I’m commuting closer to an hour each way, I was wanting something with a better driving experience.
I’m not super brand loyal, but I’ve always been happy with my GM vehicles and was pretty sure I’d end up with a Sierra. Then they did the redesign. The exteriors are awful. The interior on the 2019 Silverado’s was worse (or at least definitely not better) than my 2016 and I lost all interest in a new GM truck.
My first vehicle was a 96 F150 that I loved, but new Ford interiors felt like I was sitting in a cheap plastic space ship.
I was never a fan of the older Ram generations but I test drove a new one after watching some comparison videos and I was sold.
After the whole ordeal of getting the exact truck I wanted I’m very happy with it and hopefully won’t have to go new car shopping anytime soon.
