That does it, ordering the resonator today. My touring is just too loud for this ole man.

That sounds perfect, not too loud at all.

Also how in the world is your garage so clean? Where do you keep things?
I was thinking the same thing! Plus... Jealous he can actually park in said garage! Shorty problems aren't just for vertically challenged.

Stock vs Borla/resonator in a two car garage with all doors closed

Any chance you could mount the camera somewhere and give us some revs? (Garage door open might be wise ;))

I'm gonna get some videos with my go pro once this hurricane passes

In regards to the cleanliness of my garage, I'm a single guy so all my crap is in my house

Day 2 review:
It's a pretty loud exhaust, but so far nothing I don't absolutely love

I had the Borla Touring exhaust put on yesterday. I have to say it is louder than I thought it would be. Is it too loud? I don't think it is for me--at least that is my first impression. I'm going to have to give it a little time. I did a cold start this morning and it was impressive. After reading this thread for a while I wonder how much a resonator would change the sound? I actually considered getting the S-type instead of the Touring--can't imagine how loud that might be--probably too loud for me. I know sound, like appearance is somewhat subjective. I will have to see what it's like to live with this on a daily basis. I Will try to remember to get a video tomorrow morning of a cold start. I just have my iPhone so not sure how well it will reproduce the sound. I would appreciate any thoughts form those who have added a resonator to their Touring exhaust. Also, I have to go back to the dealer to have the tips adjusted so they are even.

Thanks!

I installed the Borla Touring today as well and will echo that it's much louder than advertised. Very interested in some more sound clips and opinions on the resonator. Would gladly invest in it if it tones things back a bit. Love the Borla sound, but disappointed that the entry level is so close to the aggressive tiers.

There's no convincing the Mrs that the extra sound is from the CAI... :p

I went straight the resonator route, so can't say what it sounds like without.. but honestly two days in, just like the Ram itself, I'm loving this thing more and more everytime I drive it.

Great startup sound, warm or cold. Super quiet cruising in high gears, and growls when you give it gas. Can be pretty loud, but at the same time tameable.

Day 2 kinda warm startup

I took a longer drive this morning and still not sure. On the interstate I do detect some drone but not bad. I'm sure a resonator would eliminate that. I had the Borla Touring on my 18 Silverado but ordered it through GM and it was much quieter. I suspect that it had the resonator on it.

Idle -> light acceleration -> moderate/heavy acceleration.

In the cab with all windows closed. At the end you hear some road noise, it's raining down here

After driving about a week with the Borla Touring Exhaust--so far so good. I have decided that I really like it and will not go the resonator route. The cabin noise seems fine to me and I love the sound. Actually I have received several compliments on the sound--granted they have all been from people under 40.

Resonator installed and it did quiet the Touring a touch. Wish it would have done more but better than it was.

Edit:

What I thought was great customer service from the site I bought the Touring from:

I saw it had a button to see about a deal. I clicked and filled out the form explaining how I bought the exhaust from them but it was too loud and was interested in the resonator. Not thinking anything if it.

15 minutes later I get an email for a one time use $50 off coupon for the resonator. Above and beyond and they were the lowest price to begin with.

They were also the lowest price on the exhaust as well, by quite a margin.

I installed mine today as well and agree it tones it back slightly, but still not as much as I had hoped. At least that's my initial reaction. Will give it a few weeks and some more mileage and post feedback then.

One thing to note is that the instructions could use a little updating. They said to loosen the bolts on the front pipe rear flange, but in reality I had to remove the front pipe entirely (would have made cutting out the OE resonator not under the truck an easier process) and then put the two sections of the front pipe with the Borla resonator already loosely fitted back up in as a complete section. Attaching a few pics of the finished product for those interested.

Well over a month after the Borla resonator installed. I must say it has quieted down a touch more. Enough that the better half even thinks it sounds good!

It is still pretty beefy, but if you baby it after cold start to get out of the neighborhood...your golden. Not afraid of waking the neighbors anymore if I'm observant.

I'm happy with the combo and perceived performance boost, especially how easily it downshifts/engine brakes. Get heavy on the pedal though...heads turn.
