I was able to get the self parking to work two or three times total in hours of trying right after I bought the truck. I gave up on using self parking but asked the dealer to look at it when it was in for recalls. They couldn't get it to work a single time but told me there is no repair procedure for it and nothing they can do about it. They don't have any other limited's with self parking to test so I don't know if it affects them all. Has anybody been able to get the self parking feature to work?

This is actually one feature I will never use on mine. Wouldn't bother me if it worked or not :p

I would not use it either, that said if you paid for it then it should work as the truck is under warranty.

The key to this is it has to be between two parked vehicles with only one space between them, pick the parallel or perpendicular type and put the correct blinker side on for sensor activation. It worked great on a parallel park on a busy road and was quick enough to beat the flood of cars at the Red Light behind me before they reached my tail. Parking was crazy for the concert and it worked faster than I could have done it. Realistically I have only used it at the Airport, congested downtown areas, etc...

I've read the manual and watched videos on how to use the feature but still can't get it to work. At first it recognized parking spots a few times after many attempts. I've had the truck 6 months and now it cannot recognize one under any circumstances. It was at the dealership for two weeks before they gave up on it. Granted I will probably rarely want to use the self parking but I'm worried other systems may be affected as well if it has defective parts. Has anybody else got theirs to work?

Yep, but I really only use it as a demonstration for guest riders ;)

The trick (for me) is to remember to use the turn signal.

Self parking was ALWAYS a bad idea - I still can’t figure out how to turn that BS auto brake off when backing up. It’s NOT in the menu. But damn it’s like an accident all to itself

On my Limited (12" screen) there are switches just below the screen for turning off front or rear park sense. I have to turn it off when backing out of my daughters driveway because of the slope.

If just backing up on a flat surface and it applies the brake, I'm guessing you probably have the door open without your seat belt on.

I’ve got mine to work without the blinkers.

^This exactly. If you cannot park your 5500 lb vehicle, you should not be driving it on the highway at 65 mph, or frankly be allowed to leave the dealer parking lot with said 5500 lb vehicle. Why would one even ever want to test this much less use it.

there are a lot of things that it takes for it to work correctly, and if one minor thing is wrong, it will not work... I do not think the dealer would be versed enough in it to do anything... other than a flash for it.

It is in the menu, my son turned mine off. He was backing up in his truck and the sensors spotted a sign and the brakes immediately applied and stopped the truck! He didn’t know what the heck happened.

It’s not - believe I looked everywhere. The only thing listed where it should be is to have auto brake on for the ebrake or to dislocate the brakes for service

Shouldn’t it be right here

You aren't missing much - I think I've used it 3 times now to demonstrate to friends, and each time it took a comical amount of time to complete the process... But it did work.

I had no problem finding it and turning it off in my 12" Uconnect menus. I can't remember off the top of my head what the exact menu path was.

I have tried my Park Assist a few times. For perpendicular parking, it has actually detected a space a few times. For parallel parking, I have never gotten it to detect a space, so have never seen it actually steer my truck into a parallel space.

The first time it actually detected a space, it tried to back me into a minivan. I mean, I was using it to park perpendicular in a row of spaces on my right. Except, where it told me to stop and then start backing up, the space it was trying to put me in was between 2 other cars, but the space had a minivan in it. I mean, there was no empty space anywhere close. I kept going until my bumper was just about into the minivan, just to make sure I wasn't incorrectly second-guessing the Park Assist.

Since that time, it has correctly put me into a perpendicular space a few times. One thing that is kind of annoying is that it puts you exactly (more or less) in between the 2 cars on either side. One time, the car on one side was parked on the far line of their space. So, I ended up almost on the line of the space I was in.

My problem with testing it for parallel parking is that everywhere I have been so far, I have not found a space with a car on either side. It's always been a space that is either a cutout in the curbing, so no parking space in front or behind, but still a car-sized hole you have to fit into to park. Or, it has been a space with the curb cutout at one end and a car parked at the other end of the space. So, still not two cars to fit in between.

What I have had several times, though, is driving along a row of perpendicular spaces and the PA simply not detecting an open space. So, I abort and just park it manually.

Again, like others have said, I don't NEED the PA. But, I paid for it and not only do I want it to work, I want to know HOW it works. I want to be ABLE to use it competently, in case I ever feel a need to for some reason.
