Overall I love the way this has turned out. I have never plastidipped before so I will admit the hood bezel blackout has some flaws up close. I may end up ordering one of these if it aggravates my OCD too much over time. I dont do much night driving but may this weekend, will have to see how badly the light covers affect the mid-level LED lights during night driving. Let me know if you have any questions or opinions!
1. Front RAM letters. Ordered Black letters and color match decals
Easy to remove the letters, small flat head screwdriver and just pry out. Don't be afraid to use force, you will break the clips, but you won't need them anyway. Stick vinyl on black letters before putting them into the grille. Done. Takes about 10-15 minutes.
2. Headlight Covers & Tailight covers by AVS (Auto Ventshade) ordered them from carid.
Also very easy to install. They come with adhesive that also uses velcro to attach them to the lights.
Pros: easily removable to clean under or if you need full headlight brightness. Easy to install. Look Great. About the same cost as it would have taken to get them tinted locally.
Cons: they have these 4 dimples on the rear lights that are obnoxious and not necessary. They made the front covers flat, why not do that on the back? AVS logo on each cover, but that can easily be scraped off, just annoying it is in white and even there.
3. Tailgate Ram head emblem
This is an easy removal and replacement, but it can be time-consuming. I used a hair dryer and heated the emblem up for a good 5 minutes.
Pried the emblem off using a small flat screwdriver leveraged on some paper towel. The emblem came off in layers. First the thick plastic exterior, then two layers of adhesive.
For all my debadging I used WD-40 and Goo-b-gone/goof-off, elbow grease, and this amazing little rubber razor contraption. The more you heat, the easier it is.
I used a hairdryer because it was all I have, but a heat gun would work, I would just be a bit more careful with one of those. I have never used one, but I imagine they can get a lot hotter.
4. Hood Bezel 1500 HEMI Blackout
Heat with hairdryer, fishing line, and screwdriver removal. remove adhesive and clean both hood and back of emblem, plastidip, put 3m trim adhesive on, prime hood with alcohol, and place back on the hood
5. Powder coated the exhaust tips at a local shop. Easy to remove, cost me 60 bucks for both
6. RAM door letters, Laramie on the tailgate, 4x4 on tailgate I heated with hairdryer, ran fishing line behind, rubber razor and WD-40/goo-b-gone and elbow grease
7. Black license plate screw kit. Filled in the holes nicely since we don't need front license plates here in FL. I bought some cranberry plastidip and going to test in on the plastic covers to the screws to see if it matches the paint close enough. If it does I am going to use it on the chrome edges on the stock 22' rims. Stay tuned!
