Using the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® HELLCAT V8 engine, the Ram 1500 TRX has become the quickest, fastest, and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup in the world. Rated at 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, the TRX delivers new levels of performance with a 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) of 4.5 seconds, a 1/4-mile time of 12.9 seconds @ 108 mph (173 km/h), and a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).
While the Ram 1500 TRX checks all of the boxes in the off-road performance truck category, performance street truck enthusiasts have been wondering if Ram will ever answer their wishes with a high-performance Ram 1500 offering for them. While trucks like the Ram SRT-10, Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, and Chevrolet Silverado SS were the craze in the mid-2000s, it seems that Detroit’s Big-3 have abandoned the segment that was so competitive. But what might a modern-day Ram performance street truck look like?
Digital designer Jlord8 thinks he has the answer for Ram and its fan base. Using his Regular Cab TRX as his inspiration, this modern take on a HEMI HELLCAT-powered muscle truck blends in Ram 1500 TRX design cues with Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody elements to create an incredible-looking design statement. The wide-bodied fender flares and grille from the TRX are present. A Dodge Charger Widebody lower front fascia gives the front of the truck a more aggressive tone and blends well with the TRX front grille.
While a HEMI HELLCAT-powered Regular Cab seems like a bit of a stretch in today’s marketplace, we would have loved to see something a few years ago. Unfortunately, the full-size pickup segment aims for a more family-oriented target market, with four-door offerings being the norm.
