I travel a lot and in order to use navigation I have to have my phone plugged in which means it is charging all the time. Does anyone use usb wireless adapters instead of having your phone plugged in?

The newer phones and infotainment systems can use Bluetooth. It's what I use without plugging in, but I have the latest of both. Seems I read about someone using different methods to connect, but that is just an extremely faint recollection.

I have a new Samsung S25 and my Ram is a 2020 with Uconnect 4 8.4. I don't think it works without being wired.

I've been using the Motorola MA1 for years in my 2021 Laramie. It works well for wireless Android Auto and playing music. Occasionally I need to unplug it and plug it back in to get AA to sync up.

I have the CarLinkIt 5.0 and am quite happy with it. They come on sale quite often and I got mine for under $50.

I have an AA Wireless for my Pixel 6. Don't know if it's just my truck or the AA Wireless itself, but if I leave it plugged in it'll continuously ping for my phone if I'm close enough even with the truck off for hours. It's slightly less hassle than plugging and unplugging my phone every time I'm in the truck, but I plug/unplug the wireless unit every time.

The Carlink 2.0 was actually a much better product. I had to upgrade the FW after one of the IOS updates broke a few things. I opted to get a newer device but newer is not always better.
The 5.0 needs some assistance to connect maybe 1 out of 7 times but is solid once it is. It's biggest weakness seems to be with reconnecting if you get out of range. Often I'll crank uo my truck and then run back into the house, shop or office to grab something and I'll have to power cycle the device to get it to pick up the connection again. If I just jump in the truck, crank it and drive, the Carlink works perfect.
