This is my first post!

I bought the following item to get wireless Apple Carplay in my 2020 RAM 1500 Laramie. I got one for my wife too in her 2020 Toyota Sienna. They work great! Only problem is on the RAM, when I shut the truck off and walk away, the adapter stays powered on (visible light) and connected to my phone via WiFi and Bluetooth indefinitely, even while I'm in the house. I hear that this is supposed to shut off after an hour, well it doesn't. The Sienna does shut its USB port off right away. This is causing me issues on my phone because my phone thinks I'm driving still. Also, it makes the connection unstable so when I go back to my truck the Carplay connection is finicky.

Is there a way that I can make the USB ports only power up when I start the truck? I'm thinking of just buying a USB extension cable with a manual switch on it, then splicing in a relay on that switch and wiring it to the ACC 12V on the truck.

I've read some things about the fuse panel under the steering wheel. Could it be F43, F66, or F33? Some people are saying use a fuse tap. If I did, how would I connect that to my USB power to switch it on?

Great list of what fuse does what:

They only stay on for an hour than shutoff.

Mine is not. After over an hour, it is still connected to my phone and the LED is still on.
How close is your keyfob? That can sometimes cause the truck to wake up. But there is nothing you can do if it works differently than everyone else's truck.

Maybe 30 feet away or more. I'm just going to do my relay controlled USB cable switch for now, unless someone on here tells me what fuse to pull or add a switch too.

I purchased the AAWireless adapter which has an ap w/ options to set it to only connect if you phone is also connected via bluetooth for calls which solved my issue w/ the phone constantly connected when close to the vehicle. I guess this doesn't help you yet, as it not compatible with Apple... But they have a new one coming out early this year that is supposed to be compatible with Apple!

I spent hours looking thru forums and trying different work arounds. Came across this cable and gave it a try, even though it’s designed for a different purpose it works perfectly for this problem. USB A to the CarPlay port, USB C to the outlet below.

Hope it helps.
