I I have a 2023 Ram Laramie 1500 i just had a windshield replaced and they told me i needed a camera calibration done. I get there to pick up the truck and they said the calibration kept failing. They said it may be fine or it might give trouble and if it does to come back. My question is. what am i to look for to see if its working? What does this camera control?

It is the DASM in the windshield. It's used for ACC if equipped, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and auto high beams. It most likely will be fine. But if you want to be sure, you'll need to have it done. Safelite had to use a different device for mine. If you have ACC, you can just turn it on and set a speed behind someone and see if it speeds up and slows down properly.

I have ACC and the forward and rear collision and auto high beam but no lane assist. Ill be drivign tonight so ill know if the headlights work, ill also give the ACC a try here in a bit. Thank you. They said they tried like 20 times to get it to do it and it wouldnt.

Took mine in and had the windshield replaced, and the owner said that as long as they didn't turn the key on before all was hooked back up there most likely would be no need for a calibration, and he was right . all is working just fine.

I install windshields, and yes, it does not need calibration. We have learned that if we do not unhook the mirror assembly (just let it hang) and also do not turn the key on while doing the installation, everything is fine. The vehicle does not know that it has been replaced.
