Windshield on crack

Here’s what I can say…
On my 2015…I went through 4 windshields in 8 years I owned it.
Within the first year, got a chip that turned into a long crack within days (I already had made the appointment to get the chip fixed/sealed) it was winter…and the heat/cold cycle just gave it hell.

Safelight replaced it… with I think they used the term OEM generic back then…
My rain sensing wipers didn’t work right. I had 3 different techs (I watched them from the parking lot) over a period of a month or so… try to calibrate it. Finally I asked them to replace it with Mopar Glass or provide a refund..
They got Mopar glass, and it was fine until a few years later with the next time I caught a stone from a semi…

Bad install? Maybe? Incompetent techs? Possibly. Faulty equipment? Could be.

Replaced it with Mopar glass and never had a problem with rain sensing again.

Take that as you may.

I never had one cracked windshield on my 2014 or 2019 Rams. My 2025 had a rock crack the glass a couple months ago, I went with an OEM windshield. I had a Nissan Titan that went through 4 windshields mainly because Safelight screwed up the original install and they used an aftermarket glass. I had rust forming around the windshield less than a year after the replacement. and then it started leaking. Non the less I will never use Safelight again. I Have used another local shop in town for other glass replacements including the one on my 2025 and they also replaced the cracked slider on my 2019 and the installs went well.

Doesn't mater what kind of glass it is when an egg sized rock from an oncoming dump truck hits it. Sounds like a gunshot. Rather that than the windshield on the boat I was towing. Considered myself lucky.

I just got my annual maintenance done at the Ceramic Pro dealer and I saw a flyer that Ceramic Pro now offers a windshield protection film. I have no idea if it's any good or how well it holds up. It doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

There's a couple products that are applied like Rain-X and are supposed to strengthen your windshield. There's one called C-Bond Nanoshield Plus (www.cbondnanoshield.com) and another called ShatterX (www.shatterx.com). I have no idea if they work well or not. Buyer beware.
